  1. Folks, My thanks for your support. Am shocked that a basement manufacturer of rods even made the list. Great to see the support for a Canadian manufacturer. Regards, Don
  2. Hero shots build credibility leading you into reading the accompanying text thereby increasing readership and therefore profitability. Follow the money! Don
  3. Weeds are worse on every lake I fished in Alberta this year. Some are aerated. Don
  4. Gaiters for sale. Call... Don
  5. Burn.... If you see a fine being handed out, please feel free to let us know. Don
  6. See, somewhere in the real world things get done. Curious that the only place the quads & campers are fined is in the Rocky Mtn. House area. Lots of yipping and hollering elsewhere but f.....all gets done. Gets some balls boys and get after them.
  7. Guys, I attended the first WD conference in Alberta. The Montana Biologist reported that he knew the fish in the Madison were in trouble for some years before he detected infected fish. While he was concerned about the fish, FF types were rejoicing in the number of larger fish they were catching. He also described the bug this way. " if an eagle ate a diseased fish, *hit on a river bank where the *hit dried out and 25 years later the *hit washed into the river, the disease bug would still be alive. Browns are not effected as bad as rainbows. They grew up with the disease in their native lands. Don
  8. Wonder how it got to Johnstone Lake?
  9. We should be able to dunk visiting Angler's in sheep dip to kill the invasives. Don
  10. Add to the list: New Zealand Mud Snails: https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Invasives/Species/NZmudsnail Add to the list Goldfish and Asian Mudsnails: http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/goldfish-and-prussian-carp-threaten-bow-river-s-ecosystem-1.1867792 And just so the lake fishermen enjoy the bounty of invasives, we have http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/Zebra-mussels-creeping-into--333133181.html A common thread - they are all imported. Keep your dirty boats/waders outta Canada. Don
  11. Gil is bang on right. Very light reels don't take a lot of abuse. Bent a Marryat dropping it 2'. My Peerless and Bellingers are a whole lot tougher. Don
  12. Billie et al, Fisheries and for that matter all natural resources are the responsibility of the general population and as such license fees and the like should go to general revenue. To isolate fishing licenses as a single source of revenue for fisheries would severely limit the ability of fishery managers to do the required work. This type of funding would mean folks who do not pay license fees get away scott free. Just remember that the total number of licensed Angler's are <>300,000 which realizes about $10.00 to general revenue. A paltry 3 million. Don
  13. I'm with you. How about $5/day. Cheaper than golf. Don
  14. Some provinces and states have required over/unders to get licenses although they cost nothing. This was to make sure the person got a copy of the regs. Whether or not they read it is another question. And adults are responsible for thier kids. I have not needed a license for 5 years. I typically spend $25 on fuel every time I go fishing. After 125 trips per year paying >$3000 in fuel, a $25 license fee is the least cost. Hell, I spend more than $25 on tippets. Don
  15. Can I rent it? Don
  16. How I wish that someone would post court actions done by the phantom enforcement officers. Apparently 10 existed in the Rocky area last year and based on court news, they didn't do anything. New fines won't change attitudes. Higher fines will. Don
  17. Jay... A Bow River cigarette boat. Do you paint pics of sunk drift boats on the nose of the rocket? Don
  18. F-18 or corporate?
  19. Bcube, It would be a fair hike. Don
  20. Fines just dropped to 1/4. A step in the right direction. Hardly. Just so you know, the only guy getting quadders to court is a single RCMP officer. The phantom army of enforcement types doesn't exist. Don
  21. Uber, The Govt took a hike on the channelzation when it happened. They pondered action and took none. What a f.....king surprise. Useless bunch. Don
  22. Uber, The ponds were created by the lanowner damning up a terrace spring creek. The creek is illegal to fish till June 16. Nickel gets you six bits that there was no permit to stock trout or build the ponds And for a feeling of how the Waterton gets treated, have a walk up the Waterton from the bridge. Channelized for a long ways. Don
  23. Uber, By your logic, guides can fish anywhere without concerning themselves with the law! They are private businesses are they not.? Don
  24. Palmers ponds exempt from the law? From the Alberta regs. Waterton River all tributaries upstream of Waterton Reservoir including Drywood Creek June 16 to Aug. 31 Brook Trout and Brown Trout limit 2; Other Trout limit 0; Mountain Whitefish limit 5 over 30 cm; Bait Ban. River
  25. Jordan, I have to look only at how our eastern slopes have been treated for the last fifty years and I know who I will be voting for. Unless , you can resurrect Bill Yorko- http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/edmontonjournal/obituary.aspx?n=bill-yurko&pid=139355319
