  1. I was out the other night seeking the big brun under the cloak of darkness. Althou I raised the biggest trout I've ever seen (didn't hook him) I got a good kick out of this little guy..........never mine the 20 on a 20......this was a 8 on a 8.

any one else got any of those "eyes bigger than their gut" pics..............dry or wet doesn't matter.

  2. I had to drop the mother outlaw off at the airport (Seattle to St. John's is the prefect distance for a mother outlaw to be) the other morning at 3:30 so I decided to fish before I went to work instead of climbing back in the sac. So I hit a city pond with rumours of 5-6lb browns for a early morning session, the pond was flat calm at this point with little to no rise forms but I decided to go with a dry fly size 12 EHC aways. I approached the water carefully fishing the water I wanted to stand in first and eased my way out to the edge of the weeds that were on either side on me. After about 20 or so cast I figured I should switch up to a wet fly and made one more cast tight to the reeds on a my left. I stated reeling in my line to change up, when I got about 2 feet on fly line outside my rod tip a nice little brown explodes (I nearly *hit myself)from the water and hammers my heavily waking caddis. 30 to 40 seconds and two attempts at takeoff I have my best brown out on this pond to hand weighting in around 1 1/2-2lbs, this fish was all head definitely a meat eater. I checked to ensure that I didn't *hit myself which I didn't and tried to skate the dry fly to the best on my ability. To make a long story short I had another dozen or so to hand lost a few more and missed that many again. Didn't get any 5-6lbers but the fish were bigger that my normal day time fishing.

Last night was spent at the bench tying up some bigger G&H caddis imitations and a crudely tied mouse which I have named "2 bagger" due to its pure ugliness, but I'll fish it anyway so long no one finds out I did. Can't wait for tonight, I for one am not upset about the short days that approach.

Sorry no pictures as flash lights and camera phones do not capure the moments all that well.

  3. Can't build anymore of those. They are always in someone's back yard. NIMBYism, and regulations (and not just Environmental) run absolutely amok almost guarantee no new ones will be built anytime soon.

Two 300, 000 barrel a day refineries (would be biggest in NA) are in the works in Canada right now (Irving in St. John NB and Altius in Placentia NL).........I'm guessin first to get there sh1t in order wins......Money is the problem for the NL one they are blaming the weak US economy for lack on investing into this project...............fed Environmental is complete and Engineering has been going on for the last year or so................The Irving refinery is still seeking enviro approval......................1976 was the last time a new refinery was built in North America................Come by Chance, NL............currently owned by Harvest Energy from San A, Texas.

  4. Just a few small ones to round out the fly box............didn't bother with tails on these smaller flies.

  5. stay away from UPS when buying things from the states..............................on a $300 item your looking at about $50-60 brokage and then the GST. I always ask for things to be shipped USPS........or I buy from someone else.......................lets just say I found out the hard way.

  6. I know nothing about these tube thingys.............................do the fins go over you wader boots or do just go over the sock foot of your waders. I see that force fins go on your sock foot wader but others go on the wading boot. I would think that on you boot ones would be more convinent but the force fins seem to be everyone chioce............help please.

  7. i have been wearing the cheapy hodgeman waders for 3 years now no leaks what so ever they have lasted longer than two pairs of boots so far save your money the cheap ones work good to

Second that, I like the hodgeman's I got under a hundy from ebay, bushwackin thur stunted juniper and black spruce with no problem so far, actually got ed stopped in my tracks with broken branch caught into the wader without puncture............and no leaks either.
