Awesome....................guessing you had to change the bath water three times to clean her up.
-
grab about 3 feet of wire
how big of worms to you tye ole man, 6/0? 12" will bend a no 4.........................maybe I need to go bigger or go home.
-
I've been loading a old steel bobbin with a thread spool of wire (24gauge) and that seems to work pretty good. I haven't tyed a huge quantity like this but I bent a couple dozen with still wire left on the spool. Seems as good as it gets, at least for me.

I caught my second whitey today, I've had bigger trout quit faster. I'd take them all day long.

Had my kit stolen a couple season ago, home insurance covered it and then jacked my insurance so that I pay three times over what I claimed for.

Not that I would know any better but the Cortland Peach served me well along with the Wluff triangle taper.

I think this was just some old production tyer wanting to impress the young lady working at Shopper's

You will need 80' with one back cast.
Best I forget about bones then

I actually saw the lines that they have on sale at Fish Tales there too. I'm looking for a line for my new Launch 6wt 9' that I got for Christmas. Was thinking about the Cortland Precision Trout Specific for it, or the Rio Grand, but I saw a nymph taper in the bucket in a 6wt and was very tempted.
I know lots of guys have this same rod, was wondering what most of you use for it. Going to be my nymph/streamer rod for the Bow, in case you guys want to know what I plan on using it for.
I think the Rio Grand is a 1/2 wt heavy, I own 3 launchs and I would not overline these rods, but thats just me

excellant, hoping you break it in next time out.

Did my wife put you up to that, shes been on me for a vacation, looks like she may win.

Taco
I'm sure you can.
My agrument was that the vise versa of larger brook trout fry preying on the smaller cuttrout fry could also be true. My thought on this came from the stocking of rainbows (also spring spawners) on the North East Avalon of Newfoundland, in some of these ponds you would be hard pressed to find a brook trout. Yes Rainbows and Cutts are different, but this is where I'm coming from.

so you're saying, "survival of the fittest, sink or swim"? What about the brook trout restoration projects all over the east? Or for that matter, atlantic salmon projects? Should we even spend time and money correcting past man-made ecological blunders where feasible? I think so.
No not saying survival of the fittest, atleast didn't mean to. Just that invasive speicies as we label them are not alway dominate, they just intoduce competition into the ecosystem.
-
I'm all for native species be left alone and being protected from invasive species. But the painting of the brookie (which happens to me my fav) as a ruination of native species rubs me the wrong way.
I have heard and read that brookies and browns have made huge impacts in the West, and seen the impacts of the browns & bows (to a lesser extent) on the East coast. Also read about the brookie dominating browns in Europe, the same browns that dominate the east coast brookies. I really don't think that one species (we are talking trout here) is any more dominate than another, just when new competition enters the ecosystem, the once "King of the castle" now has competition for survival.
I do not agree with this quote from the article
"Brookies have a natural advantage over cutthroat trout because brookies spawn in the fall while cutthroat spawn in spring. Brook trout fry hatch in May in Trappers Lake but cutthroat trout don't emerge from the gravel until August. By the time cutthroat eggs hatch, brook trout are already over 2 inches long, and may be able to eat some of the cutthroat. More importantly, the size disparity gives brookies a huge competitive advantage in their first year of life. "
Kind of like the chicken and the egg.
Wouldn't spring cutthroat fry all ready 2" long eat and out compete fall brook trout fry.

Just enough so that I don't end up with a rat's nest for trout. I like to have it a little tighter for grisles, but usually palm the first run and adjust after that.

Excellant vid, as per usual.
17 kmThat can be done in about 2.5 - 3 hrs and not even sweating, especially with no 70lb pac or weapon, or no one shooting at you..
Wow thats really moving, my last hike was 23km and my avg moving time was 3.2km/h with a high of 8.1, I think that was when I took a tumble down the bank.

What if someone doesn't have balls?
I know what I'm talking about.
A punch in the baby maker for you then.
-
I'm gonna try and make it, but only if the weather is sh1ty, got to make the most of my time in YYC, and spend as much time as I can on the rivers.
-
I would suggest a curve hook a (1120, 2457 or 69S I think) and use colors to match the larva in your streams/rivers. These are simple effective flies, no need to try and improve them.
-
From what I've seen, slim & heavy are a must, color and the addition of a colored bead for a hot spot are the variations.
I do tie a 3 headed beaded nymph that I've seen on Danica (sp?) that could be classified as a czech nymph I spose...................lead body would be cheaper thou..........way cheaper and probably heavier.

wow cragrats and thanks for the heads up not to play for money with ya.
Not like I would play 10 pin anyways, I'm scared my fingers would get stuck in the ball.

I have a Konic 3.5 (rigged for single handed) dressed with a 9wf Sage Preformance II and shes the full of the spool with min. backing. I guessin unless your spey is on the lighter side the Konic 4 will give you similar problems as your Okuma.

Thanks but I found hole full of them today, landed 8 and lost another 3 or 4 in 25-30 mins. How big do these things get anyway, after catching 5 or 6 of them I hooked into something really solid that acted the same way, did land him or see em to tell what it was.
They look ans dif. smell like a herring to me, but bow river bones do sound cooler.
