  1. I've been home for two week and run ragged from work, home renos, and getting another house really for sale. So I decided to get up a 5:00 instead of sleeping in, grabbed the fly rod and visited a little pond that I haven't fished in over 10 years. 10 years ago this pond was full of 10-14 brookies, soon found out that wasn't the case anymore. Not a sign for the first hour, then a trout rose three time about 20 feet from me, switched to a skeeter, but no luck. I keep fishing the area for another 15 20 mins and headed up to the little brook that came into the pond. I sighted (actually scared) 3 fish, 2 feet from the water edge and watched them head into the alder lined bank. rigged up a black bugger and hooked 4, landed two (released) in the next 15 minutes.

Headed home shortly after that, picked up tims for everyone, breakfast is ready and the wife and kids are still in the bunk.

    Sorry pics are so small

  2. Wow.......................... a keeper for sure.

My wife is 8+mths along, I think she would kill me if I mentioned that ahe should come fishing with me. I'll give her a break since this is our third baby and the oldest won't be 4 until the fall.

  3. I was applying for a Texas DL and filled out the form. Took it up to the lady and she informed be that I had filled it out wrong because I was transferring from a "Territory of the United States", to which I reply that my DL was Canadian. She argued with me that Canada was a part of the US, and that if I didn't believe her I could ask the Governor of Texas George W. Bush. With the two armed DPS officers standing directly behind her, I figured I cut my losses and informed her that George W. Bush was the president of the United States. Amended my application and saved $20 buck for the transfers of my DL instead of a new application.

  4. If something like that happend I don't think I'd be around to tell the Story. According to the spike in heart rate i had the other day when a beaver sounded the alarm while my back was to the water. I though something came out of the tree line directly behind me, little bugger got me the second time too.

  5. Birchy, you should pick up a copy of Clives excellent book, "The Essential Guide to Fly-Fishing". It's one of my favorite flyfishing books. Good illustrations, descriptions of techniques and tactics for trout and a section on other species such as pike.

I second that...............just start reading it early in the day, you'll be wrecked for work the next morning if you don't. I'm not a reader by any means, but I finished that one cover to cover one night.

  6. Not for me since I live in Europe. Total about CAD 1000 including travel, food, stay and DRINKS!
