  1. Yeah man complete BS...but what can you do? They pulled out the win anyway. The NHL should change the rule about kicked pucks. As long as the blade is on the ice it should count.
  2. The 14-7 is a great shift...esp if you're flown both ways. May be against the spirit of the thread but it's nice to see you back here Brett! Hope everything's going well up there.
  3. Damn straight! Wicked Wedge is fantastic...and they have some really cool flavors you won't see at Domino's etc. I had one there last year with artichokes on it...oh man was it good. Used to stop there on the way home after flytie tuesday for a slice. I would drive down there right now if I weren't stuck in Sherwood Park!
  4. I figured that the Sharpies wouldn't work on the dark material the tips are made from. Will give it a try for sure. Al, I am looping both ends.
  5. I've been playing with the T-8, T-11, and T-14 tips in bulk lately. I'm looping the ends with double nail knots. Anyone have a good idea for identifying which is which? I thought about whiteout but wasn't sure it would last.
  6. I've fished BH a lot every year since 2005. The fishing now is the worst I've seen it for fish size. I don't think a fish has been posted that is definitely over 20" on here at all this year. Still good numbers though. I think the big fish are heavily predated by pelicans and catch and release mortality is higher than people think. I also think that triploids will solve both of these problems. The triploids we catch in BC often prefer to feed in deeper water - I wonder if we'll see similar behaviour in BH.
  7. Calgary is also home to the most heavily fished water in the province (even more than Pigeon). Lots of guys from here drove to BH for that fisheries meeting, so I'm sure that you'd get good turnout especially if in Red Deer. Honestly though, why Red Deer and not Calgary or even Lethbridge? Calgary's got nearly 12 times the population and is way closer to the Bow, Oldman, Liv, Crow, Newell, Crawling, McGregor, Travers, etc, etc. Not saying there isn't some excellent fishing around Red Deer, but if you want involvement come closer to the people.
  8. What sort of depth are we talking about here? I've seen what I thought were redds in 1' of gravel like those pics, but doesn't it freeze right to the bottom in those places?
  9. Unreal Max - those are some wicked shots. What's that red reel?
  10. The Flames' problem the last few years is that they just don't step on their opponents throat when they have the chance. They've sure looked a lot better of late...here's hoping they keep it up. And man oh man, do I LOVE Bertuzzi in the flaming C!
  11. Sage lines are made by Rio and I don't really like them. I picked one up for my 390XP out of the bargain bin and it just doesn't shoot as nicely as a lot of the other lines. I'm tellin ya - Airflo Freshwater Tactical. Only way to fly.
  12. Yeah...if there's any team that knows about the point for the OT loss, it's Edmonton!
  13. fishinmagician - when did you fish the Alagnak? Upper or lower? Were you guided?
  14. There is also public access around the HW confluence as you'll see on google earth. Don't mess around with many other places though - I know plenty of guys who've run into trouble crossing private land and trespassing is not cool. When private land is involved, either get permission from the landowner or walk in from an access point. Breaking the law shows a lack of respect for landowners and all your fellow anglers. I'm sure most of us know of spots that used to be accessible by the public that are now shut down because of abuse.
  15. Don't forget that sink rate has a lot more to do with density than weight. A #16 czech-style caddis pupa will sink like a stone, but it weighs a lot less than a moderately weighted #4 bugger (which would sink a lot slower).
  16. I just pack the 4 piece rods in my check-in luggage.

    Happy Kid

That is awesome! On the fly too...cool. Guaranteed he'll remember that for a long time.
  18. As far as I'm concerned the nicest reels for the buck are the Nautilus. They make a 12S and 12DD which are both deadly spey reels. You can also potentially pick up a good deal on a Bauer MX6.

    Chummin

A few of those sturgeon jumped, and it was amazing. Need to figure out how to tie a realistic roebag imitation.
