  1. Thats for the info Bobr .. I'm not asking about the legalities, I got it covered.
  2. Seems nobody has any Brookies available..My friend Dan from Valley Spring Trout told me of some sort of ban because of a parasite or something? A Bull would be nice but....oh well.... LOL...joking people joking..think a 30" bull could live in a 50 gal tank?
  3. Thats wicked Brett, Thanks buddy..I do plan on having insects live in the tank as well. It will be awhile before I set it all up, were moving end of July. I have a contact for triploid rainbows but thats all he has right now..I'd really like Brookies or dare I say Bullys.
  4. I can understand what your trying to achieve by having the hopper fully adjustable, but why would you want to run a hopper as an indie without a hook in it? There are ways to make your hopper (no hook) adjustable, double your line put it through the eye and around the fly..pull tight. same way you attach a thingamabobber style indie..this method won't really work with a hopper with a hook in it cause if you hook a fish on the hopper it will almost for certain break your line.
  5. Picked up a 50 gal running tank for a deal and have been wanting pet trout for years, gonna give it a go. Wondering if anybody has experience with pet trout and I'm looking for ideas for a chiller and filter set up. Im thinking of going with a canister filter at about 350-400 gph, but have no idea about a chiller, Ive heard most people make their own, but am having a hard time finding plans. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. Crazy..I read an article on the poisoned fish in Lake Athabasca and how the natives are experincing new illnesses such as cancers surely caused by the toxins..Also read an article years ago that Dr. David Suzuki wrote about a kayak trip he took down the Athabasca and he deemed the oil sands project to be "the worst ecological disaster in the world" he spoke of toxic waste "seeping" out of the banks from operations. 1

  10. Broke one of my Sage rods for the first time last summer .. total jackass move, I was putting it away in the dark both sections ended up in the same side of the sock..when i put it in the tube I guess the guides must have overlapped and snap - clean off in two places..brought it to my fly shop..they took care of sending it in and such..6 week wait and 40.00 when i went to pick it up...but the only Sage i I ever broke ..
  11. Yep .. My grandfather has a Fenwick which is older than I am..or at least his original rod was older than me, betcha he's after going through a dozen replacements from all sorts of breakage .. "all broke on big fish" if you ask him though .. only cost him shipping and never had a issue .. he says he'll fish Fenwick to the bitter end and who could blame him ..
  12. How about fish all day and not break your rod? ... It's the warrenty were talking about so ... TFO hands down the best warrenty in the city... anybody know what kind of turnaround there is on mail in warrenty work?
  13. since Philly beat my Habs and the Pens beat Philly .. forced to say Pens in 7 ..
  14. use a online host like photobucket if your having trouble posting photos
  15. That looks like some tough ass tippet
  16. yep great in city service .. I use to fish a TFO TiCr but now only use it as a spare (with no original pieces left i might add) dad was out a couple weeks ago and we went fishing..me being the good son i am let him fish my high end stick and I fished the TFO which broke on me again, for no apparent reason..that'll be 6 replaced pieces on a 4 piece rod...only two of which were my "fault", (I stepped on it at a join and bust two sections)..the other 4 all happened while fishing..my high end rods - only broke the tip of the lightest one once, not fishing related .. so 160.00 in repairs on a 300.00 rod is 460.00 OR the price of a new high end stick I should have bought in the first place me thinks ... the service is indeed great..but.......
  17. Offically twenty something .... have a gooder meng...
  18. I know there use to be brooding Brookies @ Raven, but can;t recall seeing any Browns..went to Allisononce when passing through for a tour but it was closed
  19. I have no idea, I know most brookies come from the east but some sort of virus/parasite or something has slowed the process this year.. atleast from one particular supplier, apparently they are hard to find..
  20. thats what i said - "cool..quite possible there was a brookie in the stock .. as for the cross between a brown and rainbow..don't think they can interbreed..but browns can breed with brookies I think..very interesting" i leave ideas open with phrases such as "I think" or "don't think" as not to come off as a know it all ... guess i'll have to try harder .. Sun - dunno where to get Browns but can get you some lovely triploid Rainbows....and with some luck some Brookies by the end of summer ..
  21. My girlfiend backpacked Costa Rica by herself two years ago without incident also..but that does'nt mean every canadian who goes down there will have the same experience .. I personally know people who will not go back (one of which robbed at gun point in Villahermosa) and i know people who have loved it so much that they have relocated .. take it as you want, but the truth is, there are places/times you are indeed at risk..there are places in parts of the US that are as equally sketchy that I won't ever visit...just because... and i agree canadians are not a target..
  22. I think that a persons opinion is just that .. he's entitled to speak his mind ... saying that, I'd go to Mexico only on an all inclusive "stay on the resort" type of thing..maybe I'm foolish in thinking this way or maybe I don't want to be another statistic....I know it's not indicitive but i know guys who went to Mexico (& countries in SA) and have been brought to site by armed guards with 15 foot fences and advised not to leave the compound for "thier own safety" .. I know this is not typical for the whole country but ......................
  23. Terrible very unfortunate..would'nt go there if they paid me ..literally..I'm after turning down several opportunities to go to Mexico to work.
  24. cool..quite possible there was a brookie in the stock .. as for the cross between a brown and rainbow..don't think they can interbreed..but browns can breed with brookies I think..very interesting
  25. ditto..best way to stay safe.. hate see a fellow rider involved in an accident..
