I was spending days and weeks out in the bush when I was 14. I agree with PGK. But I also grew up doing this stuff with various members of my family. If a 40 minute walk out of the bush is a long walk, you might not be ready yet....lol...good luck with the parents.

What is there to clean up? They should definitely not be leaving any partially burned garbage around. But the ashes should be ok. It should just be properly extinguished before they leave. And with the fire ban now, any fire is a no no. I can't even barbecue this weekend in my backyard. Have to go get a gas bbcue I guess....
Yes, you can win the battle, even if you have neighbors that like dandelions.
Get on it right away and don't let up. The healtheir your lawn is, the more it will choke out the dandelions.
I like to fertilize every 4 to 6 weeks. And I don't cut the grass too short.
I pull all the dandelions as soon as I see them pop out.
