The Bow River has no secret spots, however some people post expecting to be told what rock to stand on. When I first started fishing the Bow, a buddy took me out and basically showed me how to fish it, not where. It was up to me to figure out access and location. I still enjoy looking for a new pece of water that might hold fish. At present there have been 525 people view this thread. Post about a spot that is relatively unknown (not the Bow) and see how many of the 525 viewers fish that spot in the next two weeks. I don't have any secret spots, just a few known places that are good fishing. If you look back since I started posting on boards, I've never posted a fishing report but I have sent people PM's and Emails offering locations. If you want to see your favorite spot full of people, post a fishing report or location on here and see how long it is before your spot is too busy to fish. My $.02 BK

Apparently there's damage to the wall between the two stores, making repairs a little more complicated.

Happy B-day Al -
I'd have to say go with the SLV as well ($65.00 at Wholesale Sports). Best bang for your buck I have a couple of them that have landed pretty decent fish, both in the river and lake fishing in BC. The drag has never let me down and they're relatively light weight. Never had a problem with them. My $.02 BK

Casting A Two Or More Fly Nymphing Rig
Brunsie replied to chiasson's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Casting a double/triple nymph rig isn't really casting, it's more like lobbing it out there, especially if you add a corky to the mix. Keep your false casts to a minimum. If you have to, lay the line down in front of you and pick it up and recast rather than false cast it. At the end of your drift, rather than try and cast from downstream to upstream, strip in some line, pick the line up and lob it out in the genereal direction you want to cast, then with one false cast, shoot the rest of the line to where you want to be. Until you get the hang of it, keep your casts on the short side. Most of the casters who false cast a couple of times and really boom it out there have been doing it for years. Take small steps and you will get the hang of it. It ain't pretty but nobody else cares what your casts look like. Hope this helps BK -

Pool Players Out There?
Brunsie replied to wongrs's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I've seen Rossman (Dr Cue) live a couple of times doing a trick shot routine. The guy is a phenominal shooter and very entertaining. wongrs - there are actually several pool leagues in Calgary, the largest being a VNEA league ran by Southern Music. The APA/CPA tried to start a league here a few years ago but it didn't take. Several years ago I believe Calgary had the highest per capita percentage of registerred pool players in North America. -
It seems ther's a little more to this than was mentioned above. The guy didn't deserve to get jumped and beaten by four guys, BUT if could learn to keep his mouth shut, maybe these things wouldn't happen to him. The way the story goes here is he was Beekin pretty hard so a little discretion might have kept him from getting a beating.

If you're fishing lakes with an intermediate line, clear is better. I have a couple of 444 clear lines that work well. Very little memory and cast great on my faster rods. BK

Hey Playdoh As Rusty said, a buddy and I built a boat in '01. Be prepared to spend a lot of hours in your garage. The amount of time spent is directly porportional to how nice a boat you end up with. Wood boats also require a fair bit of upkeep. "Stitch and glue" boats have no internal ribs and are stronger than a ribbed boat. Most wooden boats are , as Rusty says, heavier than plastic boats, but only because builders tend to put more "stuff" (decks, storage, etc) in the boat making them heavier and a little tougher to row. If you'd like to have a look at our boat, shoot me a PM in the New Year and hopefully I can be of some help. Nick if you need anything, call me. BK

I've had the Peak rotary for a couple of years and am very pleased with it. I think all of the vises mentioned above (Renzetti, griffin, peak) are good vises. Hydropsyche nailed it. Camlocks are the way to go. My $.02 BK

Wider? Thinner? Detail? I have edited the tail about 30 times and just can't get it right. Input please. The tail's not bad, just make the body thinner in front of it.
