Found tons of Tiger Salamanders over the years, generally around still water. Perhaps they're found near moving water but every time I've found them is in still water and swampy areas.

If you had to put a loop end on it chances are it wasn't sealed. (Most Airflo lines I've bought don't have a welded loop) Water gets inside the line gradually, making it sink. It can be dried and sealed though.
