Fishhead, thank-you for your words of wisdom. It has historically been a treat to read your posts. Welcome to friendlyville - if you wish to go home just click your ruby-red slippers together 3 times & say "there's no place like home, there's no place like home".

It is either that one or the one to the east of there.

For The Jokers In The Crowd
Glenbow replied to Hawgstoppah's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
That poor girl can't even afford proper clothes.....I should have her over & offer her a nice warm shower to clean-up, and fit her out in some nice clean clothes. Maybe even a bite to eat. If she needed a place to sleep-over until she gets back on her feet, I could probly help her out there too. We fly fishers are a generous lot. -
Crowsnest Pass Area On Thanksgiving

#10 JSW Hawg? Is that a "Jesus 'sakes worm"? (I know what ya meant). I'm hoping to float the Elk next week & fish the Crow the next day - I can hardly wait. Preparations of red wire melded with fish hooks commencing...... -

Winter Fishing And Hard Water Fishing
Glenbow replied to cdock's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Winter can be a great time to fly fish, it's mostly a matter of if the river is slushy or has too many bergs in it. Also, anything below about -2 celsius is a bit too cold on the fingies & tends to ice the guides up. I've had some of my best dry fly days in winter, although not frequently. I'd have to agree with Bloom, personally I prefer the winter scenery of the Crow to the Bow, but that's just personal preference. -
Not where we were.

Got out today with a buddy for a fish & went in on a hunch........we landed about 30 whities on wee flies & had a ball. Every cast was either a fish or a missed hook-set for about 3-4 hours. What a ball. Not that whities are for everyone, but I love 'em and they sure were good medicine today. Wish y'all coulda' been there.

Is this thread still going? It's not February, is it? I don't even recall one mention of a jetboat! FFing is about FUN. Oh yeah, I had a super fun day today with a fishing buddy, we got about 30 fish between us. Fun Fun Fun.

I know of the exact inlet you speak of, it is a really beautiful little spot. I never got any fish in there when I was there a couple of years ago, but I suspect it's just the same as it was back then. What a cool place. It's hard to believe how remote it feels & yet be so close to the big city. Great story brewingup.

I would like to add that this board is free for all of us members to use. The moderators give their time & guidance to keep this board going and to maintain the character or 'flavour' of this board. I feel that we must respect what the moderators dictate to keep this board the great place that it is for all of us. It is a great place for all of us to meet, discuss, learn and share and I for one hope it remains that way. Let's keep a good thing good.

Owch. Maybe you should tell her that you can cook & see what happens.

Stunning shots to you all - thanks for posting them, they are truly amazing.

Nice fish, Ben. Bummer of name for it though. "Bad Haircut Fish". They are reminiscent of lake whitefish from the way the picture looks. Good job on getting him on the fly!

Out treat to have you there Gordon, and a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Hope to see you again soon for a fish or a pint or two.

Sorry to hear about this experience, it is unusual and certainly not the norm for any guide. I wonder if this fellow is ill or injured, I hope he isn't for his sake but it would explain this situation. Let some time go by & keep trying to get onto him for some answers & let us know how it shakes out. Thanks, & happy fishin.

Nymph right now right up at the dam (lower side) and catch as many whities as you want, right below the concrete wall. There's also a BIG pike (or 2) in the overflow pond if anyone wants to try to catch them. Please if you do, let them go - they've been there a long time. Thanks & have fun!

You guys are gonna make me cry........ Brewingup, you're more than welcome, and thanks a lot for the kind post. My take on fly-fishing is that it's about fun more than anything. I feel that we are all out there for the same reasons - to relax, enjoy nature & catch a few fish if we can. If I see someone (like yourself as an example) trying hard but not succeeding, I feel best about myself & our sport by lending any help I can. You can't imagine how good I felt watching you catch some fish after we got acquainted, it really made me feel great too. I could tell by your smiles that you didn't feel too bad either! Anyhow, it was truly my pleasure to 'lend a hand' and get to know you a bit, and I would love to get together and fish with you again when you have time. Drop me a line anytime, and thanks again for your thoughtful post. Happy fishing! BBT, the lake whites are you-know-where in force, same method as before. Lone Fisher, please teach me how to cast one of these days, will ya? I'm tired of just watching you catch fish all the time! Here's one of my finer catches: See y'all on the water.............>))))))))'>

The Bow River Clean-Up was a big success today, and a lot of fun to boot. A great big thanks to Wongers & Pipestone Fly Guy for their supreme organizing & getting all the fixin's together. I know there were others involved, and thanks a ton to them too, I just don't know all who were involved. Thanks a lot to the sponsors for providing food & prizes, it really made for a lot of fun for all. We helped out the fish we love so much, the river that supports them & got to meet a ton of great folks from the board. Another big thanks to Toolman & Speyghillie for their demo's & their big support of this event. It was great to learn a bit of valuable info from these guys that are masters of their domains. It was a good time for a good cause & I hope we do it again next year.
