  1. Map of the zones affected by Whirling Disease. A more detailed map of areas here. Good reading, WD has been with us since 2016. Many of us have reported it over the years. https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/parks-canada-drains-alberta-lake-where-whirling-disease-was-first-discovered-1.4639220 https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/040b86889ae54c4ab93ae299b9b9397a https://awc-wpac.ca/2019/05/whirling-disease/ https://www.alberta.ca/whirling-disease.aspx

  2. You win some, you lose some but it's always another day in paradise when you get to spend time on central Alberta's trout streams ... this past Sunday was no exception ... Enjoy !!

  3. As jayhad said, any reason other than weight? Maintenance wise and ops wise 4 strokes dominate. A 15hp 4stroke however won't be a throw in the back of the truck type of motor, it will be permanently seated on boat. Bass pro for sure can't be touched on Mercs. Riverside in St. Albert can't be touched on Yamahas. Both good motors, just some features on one/not the other. Keep an eye on kijiji if you are not in a rush, lots of guys will be selling in the fall. When you go look at them ask them to set it up for you to "test drive", either fill a garbage can with water and put the prop in it, or hook up one of those adapters that runs off the garden hose. Run it through the paces including forward and reverse, check everything. I got a hell of a deal on a barely used Merc a couple years ago in November off a guy in Calgary. Food for thought...

  4. any reason you prefer a 2 Stroke? the modern merc 4 are heads an shoulders above older 2 strokes. BPS has the best prices on mercs in Canada.
