admin Posted August 20, 2009 Author Share Posted August 20, 2009 I get the hard as nails at the drug store around the nail polish and the Acetone at the hardware store. I've tried using some commercial nail polish remver once on a small amount of cement and it didn't go so well. The straight stuff is the only way to go as Jack says. Safer for your health also, to just buy another bottle, acetone is not a friendly chemical. I've kept away form it and my kids don't have wings or webbed toes. It's too thin new for what I use it for, so I would need to let it sit for a couple days. I'm fine with the acetone, just taking care not to spill it on myself. I bought 3 bottles of Hard as Nails and left them on my tying bench. Went down a few days later and the kids had been tying and left all the bottles open... Not enough acetone in the world to thin it up... Still I like to shop for nail polish as few times a year as possible. Now if I only tied roe bags I could by some panty hose... wongrs Posted August 31, 2009 Share Posted August 31, 2009 as someone said, i bought a new bottle but i diluted my thick bottle with some new thinner stuff from the newer bottle. when it's fresh, it's not thick enough for me as i need an excessive number of coats to make flies such as buzzers. nebc Posted August 31, 2009 Share Posted August 31, 2009 I bought my Hard As Nails at Walmart for cheap. Went to the Home Hardware and bought the smallest container of straight acetone i could find.
