ÜberFly Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm getting down to just the silica pellets and wanted to refill... Anybody know if you can buy the powder only?! Peter Quote
cheeler Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 It's been covered in an old thread - don't buy their product because it's a cheap material that's been marked up by 100's of %. Find someone with a pack from an old TV, or try looking in Micheal's for it. Quote
ÜberFly Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Not the acutal beads of silica gel (yeah can get that from old electronics)... The powder! Or is the powder just ground up beads?! If so, I could always use a mortar and pestle and make my own... P It's been covered in an old thread - don't buy their product because it's a cheap material that's been marked up by 100's of %. bloom Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Been thinking that the powder is more than just ground up silica...thinking it's more along the lines of that "frogs fanny" stuff...anyone know? Quote
TerryH Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Top Ride contains both a desiccant to dry the fly (the big chunks) and a floatant powder. Their Blue Ribbon product contains just the floatant powder. There are other brands of floatant powder, which you can use to recharge the Top Ride container. Terry Quote
ÜberFly Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks Terry, but my pref would be not to buy another plastic container and thought it might just come in a small bag or something... Though their Blue Ribbon Powder states on the label that it's silica?! P Top Ride contains both a desiccant to dry the fly (the big chunks) and a floatant powder. SilverDoctor Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Last time I needed some I popped into a local small computer shop and got a bunch of silica packs. Crushed them slightly between a couple of pieces of tile Quote
AndyW Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 You can by the stuff in huge bags from a concrete supply company, weighs almost nothing. Don't be such a cheapskate and just buy a new container. Quote
