Hey all

Just got back from our honeymoon in Crocodile Bay, Costa Rica and tried some first time fly fishing for billfish.

I had a couple shots for sailfish the first day using a 14 weight rod but no hookups. Next day was supposed to be inshore but crew figured we should try offshore again (with #8 and #9 weight), caught a baby Dorado and a bunch of small yellow fin tuna and on the last tuna a #300 lb blue marlin came up right behind the boat and grabbed it. Needless to say the 8 weight snapped like a toothpick.

Last day back offshore (25 miles) with the 14 weight outfit again :) had a hookup with a sail but didn't get a good set.

Kind of hard to set when the backing is burning through your fingers.

But ended up hooking the Holy Grail a 200lb. Blue Marlin and released him with a leader touch at the boat after 30 minutes on 20 lb. tippet.

My knees are still shaking.

Pictures aren't the greatest but what an experience.
