Has anyone else noticed the number of bots that are consistently bombarding this site? Google and Bing and a ton of "guests"!!

Are they looking for personal data or just a way to get people's count up?

Probably a few different types. I'd guess there are some from other search engines and things like the internet archive. Probably also lots of malicious bots looking for PHP vulnerabilities in the forum software so they can either spam the forum or use it to host malcode. At the last company I worked for (AV software) we used to have crawlers that would look for malcode being hosted on different sites. All those things are going to show up as Guest users.

ishinglifin,

Bots are basically web robots that run automated tasks over the net at a fast rate. There are thousands of different types and new ones being written every day. They are essentially a program that runs one or thousands of tasks. As BurningChrome said Bots can cover the spectrum, everything from Google indexing for their search engines so you can find things on the web to malicious ones that plant ads, try to insert malicious code or even like Chatbots that answer posts on twitter and Facebook to enforce or change points of view. Bots are even written to help you do a task online, like help lines.
