matt1984 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Would anyone be able to tell me why the new (http://rivers.alberta.ca) website doesn't show the river flow rates and only has the water level data? Is there an option somewhere to be able to see the flows as opposed to water level? thanks Quote
eotr Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Just tried it - seems to work fine for Bow flows from Banff to Calgary although there is no data yet for Carseland. Elbow flows also work. Quote
BurningChrome Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Talking about the reporting station for Calgary? Pretty sure that station was broken last summer by construction work. Quote
DonAndersen Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Be very careful with data at this time year as most are frozen. Don 1 Quote
RedBeard Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Yeah, a couple of the bow river monitoring stations are out due to construction. From the ESRD "Hi Steve, The Bow River at Calgary is a Water Survey of Canada station. WSC has stated it is down because Construction has disrupted service. Telus is working to repair line. Alternately you could use the Bearspaw Reservoirs outflows for flows on the Bow River at Calgary. Regards All flow data posted on the Environment and Parks website is provisional and preliminary. Environment Canada’s Water Survey of Canada is the official owner of this information and as such it is part of their mandate to validate the flow values and publish the finalized maximum instantaneous peak discharge values for all location in Canada on their website - http://www.ec.gc.ca/rhc-wsc/default.asp. The validation of this data does not commence until the end of each calendar year. You could also check out the new website at https://rivers.alberta.ca/" Quote
