Here are a couple of Guide spacings. The Flexcoat one is quite nice. It just depends if you are redoing an old cane rod to match the original specs or runn new guide spacing. Most of the older rods will benefit from new spacing which adds more guides. Some of the older rods had very small guides to accommodate the thinner diameter of Silk lines and also are better with larger guides. Perhaps Don our cane master will chime in.

Have fun and post pictures.

Nachako,

When removing the old guides you will discover a "shadow" which is impossible to remove. If you don't care about the shadow, place the guides where they will do the most good. 9' should take 11.

Thanks gentleman that should work for the spacing.

I should have mentioned that this Is a new blank.

Don I like that shadow on restoration projects no need to measure.

But need to increase the guide size for the new lines.

I was thinking of going with 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 4 then 6. & 10 mm stripper

Tried to send a pm no luck so here I go

I got a flamed 3/2 9' blank from a place call The Anglers Roost out of NY

It's probably a Chinese import ( $180 US ) done with a Payne 400 taper

Looks good but one never know until there is a line attached.
