Hawgstoppah Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Who is interested in a non competitive FFC campout? In July, some weekend? If we get enough interest now, let's book something. Only competitions will be who can consume the most bevvy's around a big campfire. Don't some of you guys play guitar? that'd be cool for around the fire. We could do some fly tying as well. Anyone got portable tying gear? I do... Anyways, who is interested? Quote
lethfisher Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 That sounds like a sweet idea. If I am in Lethbridge by then, which I am hoping, I should be able to come. Car pool up haha Quote
Guest tallieho Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 name the place & i'll be there Quote
reevesr1 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I'm assuming families and all? If so, I'm in. Quote
H2O Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Sounds like fun, I love drinking contests Quote
Guest Rocknbugs Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I would like to be in. This should be a thread stopper!!!! Quote
SteveM Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Sounds good to me, Brian. The "friendly" competition in the other thread is already leaning a little toward "not-so-friendly"; not really my cuppa tea(now, maybe if I didn't suck so bad.....). Quote
ladystrange Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I'm in! how about July long weekend i have fly portable gear too. what about syncline or castle camp grounds right on the river? both close to 12 different rivers and an easy paved drive for those who dont have a 4x4 Quote
LynnF Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 We'd be in. Chances are we'll be parked up at Racehorse (or in the area) again next year if they don't decide to close the world and kick us out. Think about the OMR group campground if you're thinking down that area. Makes a lot of sense in many ways. Would be much fun! I'll bring the martinis. Quote
bloom Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I'm always up for a fish-in! We've tried these before, but never panned out. Hopefully one gets going. It's always good for a few fish and laughs. Quote
Weedy1 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I'd come down for an event like this. Sounds like a blast. Quote
lonefisher Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Sounds great. I am totally in for the non competitive get togethers. We should book some sort of a Campground. Of course if we do that everyone who wants to be in has to be in and we would likely have to collect in advance, pay in advance. Otherwise the person makin the booking gets dinged if people don't show and don't pay up. Quote
dryfly Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Keep us posted. Only 7 months away. We'll probably be at the trailer that weekend, so would drive down to wherever it was at least for a few hours. Just a thought. ... longs are hard for people who can't get away Thursday as a lot of campgrounds are full by Thur evening. Make it the weekend of the OM TU weed pull at the lease in early July or late June...date TBA. Just work for 3 to 4 hours on Sat morning is all. That way we'd get some labor out of this band of reprobates. Quote
Weedy1 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 A group camping area can be booked as much as 12 months in advance at some sites. Here's some info and a list of the Gov sites. http://gateway.cd.gov.ab.ca/groupuse.aspx Quote
Parry Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I would love to do this and would recomend some of the campsites around the castle area, maybe like beaver mines, or i know in the back country there are a ton of open campsites you are able to just drive into that would have enough room for a lot of people. This area also makes driving to the various lakes / crowsnest/ and other great streams/rivers very easy. Quote
dryfly Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Nice group site below the OM dam. The main c/g tends to be underused as well so should be quiet in the regular area. You can fish right there or 30 minutes to the Crow, 45+ to Castle, 1 hour+ to the Gap. The fishing below the dam comes and goes. Was pretty decent in spring. This is certainly not the most prime, pristine "destination" group site, however, it is probably the quietest on a weekend. And only 15 minutes to Pincher for more beer. Quote
lonefisher Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I suppose chances are slim that this could go on during the week eh? Be quieter all the way around. I know I could book off weekdays easier then weekends but whatever way I'm in. Long weekend seems like a bad time though Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 ya, definitly not up for a long weekend..just asking to get boxed in Quote
cheeler Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I'd be in for a non-long weekend, but as weedy pointed out they're already taking reservations at some sites, and I'm sure alot of the popular weekends are booked already. Quote
Teck71 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Sounds like a plan to me, I would love to meet some of the Charaters on this board and drain some bottle with them. I'll be in as long as not between july 25 to august 7 a have vacation plans with the family in Brantford Quote
