danhunt
Is it too early to start fishing the Red Deer for goldeye? I read somewhere that they start to run May/June-ish, but I don't know if dependant on water levels, temperature, all of the above, none of the above...? I'm looking for a family friendly fishery to take my kids out in the near future, and I thought this might fit the bill. Thanks!
greatbigdiddy
i find the Goldeyes do get better the closer you get to summer and are awesome all summer and into the fall .... however i have caught them rarely as early as may long weekend in the red deer system. here is a vid of some summer goldeye i made a couple years ago Cheers
albertatrout
It's a good time to fish them, try downstream of the city.

fishinglibin
Should be off to Diefenbaker for Goldeye with a buddy who is not doing well. He says they are the best breakfast fish and wants one last kick at it, so who am I to say no. Good fishing, good friends and good memories. Will be my first Goldeye breakfast. DonAndersen
Fish... If your breakfast proves eatable, would you please share the recipe. I've tried Goldeye fried and smoked. Both proved that Goldeye must be an acquired taste!. Don
