Airbrush. I think perfect spotting may satisfy you more than the fish. Also, I haven't found a marker that doesn't fade after a few hours in the river.

I've been looking for a good brown trout fry imitation... I did the spotting with a sharpie and it bled into the fibers a bit. Any suggestions on spotting streamers?

Ventured out of my comfort zone. Took a stab at this style. And quickly realized you need some pretty awesome materials to start this venture. oh well

Yes, I found on natural stuff, marabou or wool, they still fade. Great on the synthetics.

 

Have also tried the prismacolor stuffs. Like the color selection, but found the same problem.

Here is the old timey classic wet fly version. Browns like these.

Ive fished the is fly once before, like SD said, browns love it!! Nice ties!!!
