RunnyD Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Gonna camp around that area during the week and wanted to let friends know where I am if they decide to come and fish for the day. Or anywhere on 40? Thanks. Quote
trailhead Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 There is spotty coverage just north of Crowsnest Pass, but I have never got any signal strength other than some blips up on the ridges in that area. Quote
albertatrout Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Luckily it hasn't invaded most of that country (yet). You could camp south near the pass, lots of service down there. Quote
lad Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Luckily you will have very good coverage if you get into the gap. The forestry station north of the the Gap has cell towers mounted on the mountain peaks in that area for communications to help fight forest fires. Bring binocs and have a look around- you will see them. Due to the fire bans smoke signals that Alberta trout usually uses are a big no-no... Quote
Sean84 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 If your on rogers you will have no reception, Telus has spotty reception at best. Quote
northfork Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 If you spend a lot of time in the bush and really need cell coverage look into getting a signal booster for your truck. Any of the communications shop sell them, mostly used in oilfield, forestry, etc. they work well, I can get service (albeit 1, maybe 2 bars) along that section of the trunk road in most areas. Quote
wayne Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I had cell service in the Dutch creek campground every morning. I'm on bell. Wayne Quote
bigalcal Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I'm at Dutch all the time (seasonal site) and the coverage is sporadic if at all (Telus)....I have seen people talking on their cells at the ranger station and there are a few warm spots if you move around. Quote

Will you be at Dutch next week, Monday to Wednesday? I plan on camping there those days and fishing the OM and Livingston as much as I can. Maybe fish a run together as I'll be solo? Quote
