Parry Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 i HATE i Repeat I HATE the Nail Knot!!!! there must be an easier way to tie a leader to fly line...... AFDHIFJFHLKJK stupid know Quote
NormanMcLean Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Many leaders come with loop to loop connections for attachment to the fly line. They are stronger than a nail not and easier to attach. The can lead to more tangles if your loops are too stiff. Some fly lines are being made with this loop attached, but you can also buy a loop attachment. Good luck! Quote
localanglr Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 i use loop to loop, tying the perfection loop for my knot Quote
ULTRAlite Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 use loop to loop, tying the perfection loop for my knot X 3 I did run across this one that is relatively easy, and doesn't require tools... Nailless Nail Knot Quote
Glenbow Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Albright knot. Super easy, super strong. It's what I use. Google it & you'll see how easy it is to do. Quote
ladystrange Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 why do you hate the nail knot? if i can do it perched on the side of cliff haning over a gorge, rod under one arm, spool of leader line in my teeth, death grip on the rock face with an elbow and a toe and using a piece of grass as 'nail' anyone can do it with a little practice i only ask so i can give you an alternative Quote
TerryH Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Here's a tip that I learned from Vic at the Crowsnest Angler. Forget the fancy knot tying tools or even the traditional nail. Go to Crappy Tire and get one of those inflating needles used for inflating basket balls etc. File off the business end and you have the perfect sized tube for tying a nail knot. Makes tying nail knots a piece of cake. Terry Quote
SilverDoctor Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Loop to loop is a nice easy way to go. Quick and easy change ups for various conditions and weights. Quote
