  1. sweet. How's the video?
  2. You don't need a truck to look cool with a load
  3. I've been blown across a pothole in one of the old belly boats that looked more like an inner tube... never too much of an issue though as it would only be used on the really small stuff. I do have a medium sized inflatable and access to a 16fter for the big stuff.
  4. All really good points to consider. I definately like the idea of not having setup/takedown time. If fishin is slow at lake X and I wanna move to lake Y, how motivated am I gonna be if it's another 25min takedown, and another 25 min setup. Thats valuable fishin time!! I'm swayin towards a fishcat... but I won't be making a purchases just yet.
  5. Thanks for bringin me back to earth all - Seen the flyer, and immediately was reminded of all those times that I was told I should get a pontoon. I'm gonna wait for now and get some feedback on it for sure ( I see that there are no reviews on Cabela's ). Hopefully something used comes up and if not, I might just wait another year. Guess I can rent one for this summer if I need it.
  6. Thanks guys, all good info. Good to know, thats a great idea. At least I would know what I like and don't like. Thanks
  7. I was definately impressed with the Fish Cat 4 when I was looking in store today. They sure have come a long way from "belly boat". I would consider them more of a portable pontoon really. Is the only benefit of an actual pontoon that it gets you slightly higher on the water?
  8. I would go in and see it in person for sure... but what should I be looking for? Having never been in one nor known anyone that has, I don't know what I am looking for other than general quality.
  9. I did see the post you are speaking of, and it does look like a great toon and deal... however it is a fair ways outside of my price range. As a side note, I wouldn't be buying it from Cabelas, they just had the best description. Thanks
  10. Details on Creek Company Sport LT Was interested in getting a new belly boat, but everyone I've talked to says to go pontoon. It would be used in potholes 99% of the time, but if I can get onto a river with it, all the better. This one is definately in my price range (ya, I'm cheap!) Would this be better than a FishCat? Is the takedown easy? Any and all info appreciated. Thanks
  11. The shot with the snow falling is A1!!
  12. Here's one that's a little different. Noticed this guy as I kicked towards shore after a long day in the belly boat. I watched for a few minutes to see if he was gonna proceed with lunch, but he did not seem interested in the fly. I snapped a few shots and left him to enjoy his meal in privacy.
  13. Out of curiosity, why wouldn't Alberta look at stocking them in a few places?
  14. Thanks very much for the links - got some reading to do... Looks like I'm gonna have to find some pickling salt - wish me luck
  15. I am new to the fly tying hobby and have tied a few of the more popular flies in my box. My question is this: Presuming mother nature will be smiling over us this weekend, and we (my father and I) are fortunate enough to harvest a deer, what parts of the hide should I keep for materials? (neck, tail, etc.) Is there anything special that needs to be done to it to treat it? In a continuing effort to use as much of the harvest as possible, it would be nice to use it in my new hobby (which I hope to gain much more experience in this winter) Thanks to any and all replies.
  16. X 3 I did run across this one that is relatively easy, and doesn't require tools... Nailless Nail Knot
  17. Stopped by Blood Indian on my way home on Monday morning. Got there about 7 a.m. and started at the north end. Caught about 6 in the first hour. Decided to hit the south end along the dam on my way out, and am I ever glad I did. The olive leech patterns were slammin 'em. I'd planned on fishing for a couple hours, but just couldn't bring myself to leave. Lost count at 30. All really healthy fish 12" - 16" with one or two pushing 18". Here are a few pics from the morning...
  18. Blood Indian Info Small reservoir about 20 km's south of Youngstown, Alberta - open to everyone...
  19. Aw comon - they're all photo worthy. Glad to hear you had a good day. I grew up fishing blood indian.
  20. :o :o :o Says with gaping mouth - Great pics Wes - helluva photographer - especially the macro shots.
  21. I use the red spray tube thingy that comes with WD40 cans - cut about 1 1/2" off
  22. Wow - what a great first fish from the Bow... Welcome to the Calgary
  23. We were going by the Barry Mitchell guide, but were quite suprised when a we managed a few decent stockies. Thanks for the compliments - just an amateur photographer with a point and shoot. Olympus Stylus 770SW - had to be waterproof as my last 2 digitals found their way into the river. Has held up great (including a few trips into the water!) It's the bridge at the old coal mine near East Coulee - Very photogenic (think I got about 25 shots of it) LOVE the gull signature there birchy - you can see it look both ways going into the store, and then books it once outside!!!
  24. Gotcha - Never seen or heard that one before. Hoss is the name of a board member at another site that is known for his misdirected opinions. Wanted to make sure I wasn't being mistaken for someone else... I thought Dude was a cowboy term?!?!? First time we'd ever been - water was pretty dank, but the fish were pretty active, and quite healthy. Decided to check it out on a whim after flipping through the BM guide.
