ÜberFly Posted January 17, 2014 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Have a dead GHO in my parents yard (NW Calgary). Not sure how it died (haven't seen it yet). Is there any specific organization I should call to investigate or for disposal?! If no, am I able to retain some feathers. Is this disrespectful to the animal or to the First Nations?! They generally want the bird and will check it for bullet holes. They may decide to keep it or give it to you. Great Horned Owls are nearly the smelliest thing that exists. Pack it well in several plastic bags and freeze it. The feathers on the birds is very webby. Never found a use for them. They do make a great mount though.
