jaymack
Here's a sample of some flies i've tied since starting about a month ago. Really enjoying it so far and it's definitely nice to have flies that cost less than 50 cents each when you lose them. Sorry if the iPhone camera pictures aren't that great.

jnovlan
Those are looking very good!!! I am thinking of getting my adult son some kind of a starter kit or similar for Christmas. As a novice tier, do you have any suggestions?? Hope to hear from some pros as well. Don't really want to steal your thread so will ask the pros. jaymack
My tying stuff was actually an early Christmas present too. I went to the fly shop and got a solid vice (Dyna-king kingfisher) along with some basic tools and just the materials I needed to tie the flies I wanted to start with. I am really happy I went this way as opposed to a cheap kit that has a bunch of stuff I may not use.

Solid Vise, Solid tools, and just look up the flies for the rivers that he might fish and get fly specific materials, alot of the materials cross over from fly to fly. im sure your end up happier this way
searunbows
I enjoy catching fish but when you catch a fish on a fly you tied yourself its a different feeling all together, like mayfly said welcome to the addiction.
