Blackant Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Hi Everyone, I am looking forward to do doing some lake fishing in the near future, and wanted to know about flyfishing techinques/flies for catching Lake White fish and perch. I was thinking of typical chronie fishing with an indi, but wanted to know what other peoples experience was like, and maybe some tips. Thanks Black Ant Quote
jasonvilly Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I was fishing in Ottawa recently and caught a ton of perch. They really would eat anything. Green wooly bugger, hares ear, prince, copper John. They did seem to like movement. Quote
DonAndersen Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 BlkAnt, Chironomids work well on whites - use them under a bobber. Microleechs and very small jigs both presented under a bobber are just the medicine for perch. Whitefish in the summer are tough to release. Takes quite a while for them to recover. Catch 'ya, Don Quote
Blackant Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks guys for the tips. I can not wait to try for the perch and lake white fish. Will be fun targeting another species besides trout, pike and walleye and the occasional fun goldeye Quote
Heimdallr Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 If you find lake whitefish feeding in relatively shallow water they will damn near take anything small. I've caught lots stripping in small nymphs in Sylvan Lake. Same with perch. They can both be a lot of fun on the fly rod. Quote
