I was thinking something like this would work. Maybe an 1130 rather than 1120 would float better. Tiemco 2487 (vs 2457)

Thats a sick tie! Am I mistaken that the tail appears to be a CDC feather trimmed?

Nice tie, but do yourself a favour and don't waste it on a 2487 unless you fish exclusively with 6X or finer.

mind explaining how come?

They bend out ridiculously easily. Even on 5x, you have to baby the hook, not the tippet. It's a real bummer when you realize that all your pretty flies are pretty much useless.

Are #18 2457s too heavy for a dry fly?

Not at all and tied as parachutes they never seem to sink regardless of how many fish take them.

Tiemco 2487's are my go to hook for most of my patterns from size 12 to 22, although I prefer the 2487BL if I find them.

I only use down to 5x on the really small hooks because of the eye size- there is rarely a need to go under 3-4x, and I have broken a few but never bent them out on fish.

They are the best hook for Wyatt's Deer Hair emerger and the Agent 99 caddis which are 2 of my favourites.
