Whether or not the newest/greatest is a better rod will only rest in the hands of the angler. Of course, the views of the angler are manipulated by their peer group & advertising. Unlike many, I own and use rods of greenheart, bamboo, Fiberglas and graphite. Each of the rods have their place. Catch ya' Don Quote
