CanuckCamper Posted October 21, 2012 Share Posted October 21, 2012 Looking to tie some copper johns and would like some opinions on what to use for the "epoxy" back. Old school pattern recipies call for mixing up a batch of 5 min epoxy. I am aware of the newer clearcuregoo products that use a uv light but have none of the above in my tying kit. TerryH Posted October 22, 2012 Share Posted October 22, 2012 There are also some "shoe goo" type products that work well in certain fly tying applications. For example, I've used a product from Tana called Sport Gloo, which is very much like Aquaseal, but dries much more quickly and is much less expensive. I've used the UV wader repair but I find I loose some of shine with it gradually. Flies still work but I was wondering if the knot sense cures shiny or goes kinds matte? flyangler Posted October 28, 2012 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Just be careful not to use too much clear nail polish in a humid or damp environment. It can get cloudy white spots.
