Lake Trout In The Bow? Non-reservior

Hey All,

I was out fishing the bow near where the railroad tracks cross the bow in Bowness. As usual, the action was slow there. To my surprise, I did hook and land a small (~15 inch) lake trout! Has anybody hooked into lakers in the swifter currents of the bow (i.e., not in a reservoir), and if so, how common is it? Just curious. The water temps seemed FAR too warm to be holding lake trout..

I have caught several brook trout and one bull trout in the bowness stretch, and they are also a cold water char. I am still waiting for my first laker here. It does not surprise me that you caught it where you did. That is a deep pool which would provide ideal cold water habitat for those fish.

Thanks everybody. Too bad it wasn't a 30lbs hog.... haha

The spot he was caught in was actually only a few feet deep. I wet waded through it comfortably, so the water temps were certainly not what they might be in the bottom of a deep pool. Regardless, it was a neat catch!
