fishinglibin
I found my basement tub backing up. I think the lower toilet has an obstruction. I have a 15 ft snake, and it seemed to do something, but not working right. Do I need a power auger, or any suggestions?

DonAndersen
fishinglivin, My suggestion - leave it alone and call a plumber. After 50 years of screwing with plumbing and ramping a facet washer replacement to $500 worth of taps and accessories, I learned my lesson. Call someone who knows what they are doing. Don't play with it or be prepared to dig up the basement floor to fix the piping. catch ya' Don
fishinglibin
Thx to both FFC guys for the input. FYI, re 311, if you do not have the sewer cap backing up, then it is an in house problem, and need a plumber. If it is backing up at the sewer cap the city will send someone out. Yes i should have said that. When my sewer backs up it starts at the bsmt shower floor drain first thats why i suggested it. Tungsten;not a plumber just knows **** runs down hill. fishinglibin
You are partly correct. Who can on a Sunday? It was caused by the roots of a city of Calgary tree. So they fixed it.
Guest tallieho
if it's a city tree demand they remove it. secondly get them back to poison the roots & power auger...you get 2 free call backs, then it's yours...update/make sure that your house insurance covers for sewer back-up. did they video your sewer....poplar tree? They are coming back to put a camera in the pipe. I have asked them to remove the tree, and they said they will not kill a good tree. 50 yr old spruce. Guest tallieho
spruce is good,it doesn't send down deep roots.populars are notorious for invading sewer systems ..
dryfly
Col you got it fixed. "They are coming back to put a camera in the pipe. " Neat a sewer colonoscopy. We just put in new counter tops, splash tiles and sink. Ordered the sink though a plumber .. he gets it for about $100 less than I would so it pays for the install. We were using the "old" faucet .. quite new. His man came in to install it two days ago. Had a problem and ended up drilling a hole through the supply lines on our faucet...so we got new faucets. In theory they are paying for it ... it in theory. Anyway...plumbing is for professionals. Clive
