Jayhad Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Do you guys tie your boatmen with beads or with out and have you noticed a difference between the two? Quote
brownonbow Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 A bead will help it to sink but that's about it imho because the fly is actively being pulled past the fish & it acts upon instinct and STRIKES! Quote
Sean84 Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Whether ti's nobler to bead a boatman or suffer the sinks and swings of outrageous skunkenness. Quote
Tungsten Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I like to swing my boatman solo so i bead Quote
tgo Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 beads also get it to sink head first like a diving boatman Quote
SilverDoctor Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Both depending on the depth you want to fish Quote
ironfly Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I also use floating patterns for when they're keyed on the surface, particularly in slow/slack water. Quote
bhurt Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I just use a prince fly for my boatmen. But like others have said if I am fishin the boatmen deep, then I put a beed on it if I am swingging it I do not use a beed. and I can't remeber who told me this (I think it was Max) but for the surface action I have been trying a foam tied boatmen this year.
