Many of the islands were once part of the left or right bank and when high waters carved a side channel making it an island, those landowners did not lose the rights to their land. Quote

Are you sure.. can you state a reference for this because the Alberta government states: The beds and shores of a river or stream that are bounded by private land may generally be traversed below the ordinary high water mark without fear of trespass. At all times, users of beds and shores should "Use Respect" of the land. Be mindful of fence lines and gates that are required to keep livestock confined. Quote

Legacy is the one example that I know of. Can you define what the "many" other islands are? Quote
troutlover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 make sure if you camp on the islands to clean up and if you make a fire pit to unmake it before you leave. thanks! camped a lot on the islands when i was a kid it is my understanding that all islands are public. Quote
