Sage Launch

The rod in question is a 6wt 9 foot 4 pc.

 

There is no stripper guide on the lower section of this rod, so there is approx 30" between reel and first guide. I was thinking about adding another about halfway in between , probably about a 60/40 split away from the reel. Do you guys think this might impact casting ability. I know that sage should know best, but it seems like a awlful long distance without a guide.

I have a sage launch and i find i dont even notice the gap.

Thinking about getting a sage launch, as they’re cheap (relatively speaking) and are apparently nice rods. How do you guys like them?

I have the 3wt which I love for small criks.

A little softer rod and progressive, nice and easy to cast.

I got a Sage Z Axis 590 and its 30" from butt to first eye.. what to do hope to achieve? closer the eye to the reel, the more drag on your line..more eyes, more drag again..

Going on my second year on 6wt 4pc 9' launch and love it. But i wish i had got a better reel.

I've got a 5wt Launch and love it! Also bought a 5wt FLi in the off season, can't wait to compare the two. Can't go wrong with a Sage, they're all hand made.
