TerryH Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I came across a bunch of these guys while fishing a lake in the East Kootenays two weeks ago. Not something you see too often, if ever, in Alberta. It was interesting how they had themselves stacked on top of the log. There was a similar number at the other end of the log. I think they're painted turtles, but who knows -- my turtle ID'ing expertise is limited. Terry Quote
jksnijders Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I think painted is correct. I remember seeing somewhere once that they are found in limited numbers in the Milk River drainage, which I thought was a little odd. Quote
dryfly Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Good find Terry. Saw one on the Crow about 12 yrs ago in April...was about 6 incjes long. And there are a "lot" at Lees Lake. Clive Quote
SteveM Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 "Ooooooh, I like Turtles..." Nice pic of some cool critters, Terry. How was the fishin'? Quote
TerryH Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 ..............How was the fishin'? On that particular lake, not so good (one fish). But it's a pretty little lake that I like to get out on just for the scenary -- and it paid off with the turtles. Terry Quote
monger Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Had one go after my streamer when Bass fishing last summer. It's always fun to see them. Years ago one tried to climb on my tube in the late evening. Great bonus to see them when fishing Quote
CROOKSIE Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Nice Photo Terry. I have good photo ops once in awhile, never seem to have the camera ready though. Quote
