I really want to try this pattern out, but I don't wanna spend the $60 on the body cutters. Anyone know of a local shop that carries them, preferably on hooks that won't bend out?

I tie them & use them, & they work great. I have been looking for the ultimate hopper patttern for a long time & this one works for me. As far as body cutters I use scissors, once you figure out you dimensions for a couple of different sizes, cut a bunch at a time & start tieing

The last few body cutters I bought was last year and I believe I paid around $12. I know I have bought them at Fishtails. You can also buy full sets.

Silverdoc is right.....figure out which size you want and just buy that cutter....not too much dough......I have the set and only use one size......Scissors would work quite well also as they do not need to be very intricate.

Ive got 3 cutters and they do get dull. Like jdangler said, figure out the size and cut a bunch at a time. What works best for me is a ruler to measure the width and then the straight edge of it and a razor blade then scissors to cut to shape.

I'd be a little too far away to do this for you, but some tying buddies and I got together with our foam and our cutter sets and just rapped out a bunch of bodies. We each had different cutters and by the end of the session, we each took home a selection to mess around with.
