SouthBow Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Lets not forget about our young kids who are not capable to fly fish but sure enjoy catching fish. just my thoughts. Quote
Flyfisher Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Lets not forget about our young kids who are not capable to fly fish but sure enjoy catching fish. just my thoughts. Agreed! Kids are our future anglers. There are lots of great easily accessible opportunities in the east Kootenays to take kids fishing using angling methods other than fly fishing: in stillwater and in streams. A fly fishing only regulation on the Wigwam is not depriving kids who are not capable of fly fishing enjoyment from catching fish. Quote

Take your kid to the fish pond. Quote
grubas Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Agreed not to mention the Wigwam has a serious Grizzly population. Take your kid to the fish pond. I've been fishing the wigwam for 6-7 years it's nice having specialized waters of that caliber for flyfishing only.I can't see someone bringing there kids and all that comes along with them on a 3-5 km hike thought a thick grizzly coridor for a day of fishing.keep to the trout ponds the only people that will venture in will be spincasters looking for a good photo op. Hopefully if this does go thought the fish and wildlife will increase there efforts to inform fisherman of all regulations regarding this and all bull trout rivers. To sustain the growing populations. They didn't get there today by mistake the management of specailized waters in my opinion is vital Quote
