jriad Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hey Guys, I am a novice Bow fisherman even within the city but I have a hoops tourney around Banff and was thinking on getting a line wet. Anyone have any tips or luck right around Banff (Caribou st. maybe?). I know Canmore has some nice waters but havent seen many about the Banff area. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 The trout in that area are very structure oriented, find the structure and find fish. This will change as the flood rearranges everything. Quote

bigbowtrout Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 like drop offs or what do you mean? Under cut banks, Trees in or over hanging the river, larger rocks and such. Browns like cover and like to hide. Quote
proflytyer Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 also remember if you are going to fish up near banff you will need the national parks licence on top of your alberta one!!! Kyle Quote
fishinhogdaddy Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Best to not go by yourself too as you are unfamiliar with the river and it's banks. Lots of dangerous snags, beaver holes and such. Go around the Canmore bridge and bring a friend. With the snow, I wouldn't be venturing too far! Nature is unforgiving and the water is cold. FHD Quote
