  1. Icky seems to be out of stock quite a bit. Has anyone tried: http://mrffstackle.com/ or can recommend another place to order them up from?
  2. note i also have a cheapo pflueger 5/6 wt with a purist reel
  3. Ya'll are gonna get sick of my posts now that I have fully caught the fever. Ok this 9ft rod is my starting rod. Can I use this for dries, emergers, nytmphing, and streamers. Keep in mind im not gonna spend money on seperate rods until i learn more about all. Ive seen suggestions I should change the fly line on this nxt package. Now to leaders. Ive read the nymphing primer and am going to follow rickr's advice and try a 2x leader. Any specific recommendations for this and strike indicators?

    Boiling Fish

Thanks i'll take a read. So how does one get a nymph or emerger or nymph to stay just under the surface. Sorry this site is just a lot faster than me struggling via google to find the right answers. Do you need a specific leader?
  5. Hey Guys, If you see fish boling like mad but not apparent insects on the surface what kind of flies should you try and throw? (PS Very new to fly fishing)
  6. Unfortunately, the 360 is notorious for beating up on discs. If you play a game hard (like I do with madden) you should always consider installing the game and running off the HD. The disc has to be in to play but its not constantly moving. Now with a scratched disc, before you go out and spend any money you can try a gamer home remedy by scrubbing an abrasive toothpaste (like something with baking soda in it) all over your disc with your fingers or a cloth. Sounds barbaric I know but it works if the scratches aren't too deep.
  7. I read a post a while back but cannt find it now. I talked about the +/- percentages of browns/rainbows in different parts of the bow. All I remember was a 70-30 split for browns in the NW. Any help or input?
  8. Thanks.....what about Police to Legacy? about 10? Is there anywhere to launch between policemans and Mac?
  9. Hey All, Well we have an annual beer league sodtball tournament in Carseland on Sept. long weekend and really want to try a float with a buddy before hand. Was thinking Mac - Johnson but maybe Mac to legacy. First off how long to the float take +/-? Secondly if we decide to go to the weir do we park right at the weir lot or is there somewhere else more advisable? Thanks in advance.
  10. Its says its a 5/6 wt. Can I use this for dry and nymphing? Sorry for the newb questions but do I need to reels with different lines to achieve this or is it all in the leader/tippet? or maybe splits shots. Basically I am asking what I have to do to nymph and dry on the same rod on the same day.
  11. well what are you doing? All decks dont need permits.
  12. Ok now for a little revival with a twist. Can you compare the NW (where I often fish) to the south. I obviously know that the souths vegetation blah blah......but how much. Of a difference does it make on the numbers game in your opinion.
  13. Can you pound the banks (never tried this) with rising water or is it smarter to wait until a steady state is reached? I know there are fish to be had during murky water just need help on the timing.
  14. Hmmmm well obviously there are so many variables and changes season to season but if you averaged out of your last 20 trips to the water then 2-3 per hour to hand seems reasonabvle I suppose. Who can claims they RARELY get skunked.
  15. What would gents consider an average day on the water in terms of production? Say you spend 3 hours on the water. Then share our best number on the bow to date and how long you were out. I am sure I will see manny "any day on the water.....".....please spare the sentimate. Quantitative here for curiousity sake.
  16. Well its finally gonna happen. Lol. I have beer league softball on Sundays and when the Bow opens up again next week I will hit up the bo by shouldice for an attempt to fly with one of my buddies who know how to very well. Might be runoff so I'm planning on using streamers on the banks, maybe a B. River Bugger? Anyways I was wondering whats the best bet for line size? Looking at the fly size to line recommendations it looks like 5wt is a safe choice. Any advice on this as I wont have a few rods until I get down the basics. Anyone have any recommendations up by shouldice? I think I know of some overhanging trees on the park side that might be prime. Wish me luck cuz I am gonna need it.
  17. Not that this is runoff yet but I've heard two opinions on fishing during runoff: 1. Don't waste your time, too murky. 2. If you skip runoff you could be missing some good fishing. Is the second true by fishing the banks?
  18. like drop offs or what do you mean?
  19. Hey Guys, I am a novice Bow fisherman even within the city but I have a hoops tourney around Banff and was thinking on getting a line wet. Anyone have any tips or luck right around Banff (Caribou st. maybe?). I know Canmore has some nice waters but havent seen many about the Banff area.
  20. Hey all, Generally before run-off are the trout still holding in slower water or are they getting to move into some faster current now? Thinking on going out to bownesia this weekend and cant afford to experiment as i only escape for an hour or so. any advice is appreciated.
  21. LOL its prolly not for the dyslexic so I'll hold off teaching you for another day.
  22. Think I could have luck with panther martin spinners with orange hackle?
  23. even in the winter? I know that area is stacked in summer/fall.
  24. LOL already read that thread.
  25. Ive read and seen on here that whitefish are more active in the winter. If this is true and usually the NW has more whitefish........should they not be easier to catch in the the NW? Do they stack up like trout in the winter? Maybe they are holding around the damn or in the bowmont run? Anyone shed some light?
