I understand they are not a new species...But from Ive read...They seem to be a fair bit new to southern AB. I totally agree with stocking them...And from what I have read today, and under the RIGHT CONDITIONS...We are going to have one Hell of a fishery ...Than we all ready have. Can't Imagine that!!!

Thanx monger, for someore interesting info...I have done a fair bit of reding today about Triploids...And starting to wonder...''Is it a big advantage to have these fish stocked in our lakes?'' What do you guys and gals think? Iam not against it by any means!...I find it VERY interesting to be able to fish for a new species...

I got off topic on this thread... as well as everyone else..."bloom" started this thread about triploids...and we should maybe stay on that track, as I don't know a whole lot about triploids...And I'am sure alot of us don't know a whole lot as well...Lets talk Triploids...cuzz I'am sure interested in them...And we should all try to learn something new about this new species... that are being intoduced into southern A.B. still waters. Cheers ..... JEFF.

Found this absract about female triploids. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/0044-8486(94)00338-O Whats this mean for the hot summers out at B.H.?.... Anything? ..Maybe they will stay deep in the summers...And stay away from the whack and stackers...

I've watched pelicans out at Bullshead eat from what I could see would be 5lb. fish... One day last summer there was this one Pelican that would come charging at my fish while I was playing it... About three times he did that...I had to throw rocks in the water, while playing my fish...just to keep him away! I am sure he would have got the fish if I hadn't thrown rocks in the water!!

Thanx for the support guys!!!! The point I am trying to get across is....Poaching goes on all over the place ...being Fish, Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear ect. I told the CO's about what I had seen in the past about the holes in the ice and Powerbait being left behind as a reminder....I might have come on a little strong on this post...BUT... It goes on... and I have seen alot of it in the past... (Bullshead for one) and so have alot of people on this board! I have two girls that love the outdoors...and the oldest one flyfishes (9 years of age)...and loves it!!! I want things to be same for my kids as well as your kids... when they are our age!... So ya...lets all keep an eye out for some of the things that go on that may deprive the next generation... Iam not trying to go overboard in this post...But Ive seen it in the past... and just trying to make all aware of some of the CRAP that goes on in our next to perfect world. Good Fishin to you all Jeff....C&R.

Sounds like fun...And a great Idea to track stats of the fish and the success of the lake. If Iam not working I'll be there!
-
I might do a little more poking around out there in the next couple days. It's nice country out there and know alot of the back roads in the area...Something to do for I am off for the spring. And the weathers not looking to good in the pass for the next few days. Or I would be out there!
-
As i said in The fist post above...There have been many holes puched out there in the past... last year they had traces of powerbait amoung other baits and garbage left behind.

FYI... I know the depths of that lake...and where I was walking was maybe three feet deep and following footprints that had been left a couple days prior.. Iam not as so stupid to walk out on the deep areas this time of year... and gave the ice a very good look over prior to walking on it. As the ice apears to be a good foot thick. And not rotted at all. Bin a cold winter in the hills.
