  1. Stocked.........Prior to new regs was stocked with about 150,000 fish a year many of which were "harvested" shortly after the hatchery truck put them in......... Last 3 years have seen 30,000 triploids stocked to enhance the fishery and better balance the food supply........Police has not shown the spectacular growth rates of fish that Bullshead did but it's coming..........Certainly worth continuing on the path we're on.........
  2. It's time to vote, folks........Hope you have all had a chance to fish Police under the new regs. Progress is a bit slow but it's coming......There are still some of the old guard who want it back the way it was........If you believe we need MORE ANGLER CHOICE and MORE QUALITY FISHERIES in the Province it is imperative that you make your voice heard. Outlined below is the review process. Please be sure to vote and also let any of your fishing associates who may not use this Board know as well....... Al...... Police Outpost Lake. Review of Quality Fishing Regulation. Public/Stakeholder Input requested. Proposal #1 Keep the current regulations (1 Trout Limit over 50 cm; Bait Ban; Closed November 1 to March 31) Proposal #2 Go back to the previous regulations (5 Trout Limit; No Size Restrictions; No Bait Ban; Open Year Round) You can send your opinion to: Terry Clayton Senior Fisheries Biologist ASRD Fish and Wildlife Division 2nd Floor, YPM Place 530-8 Street South Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2J8 Fax: (403) 381-5723 Email: Terry.Clayton@gov.ab.ca Terry will be accepting letters, faxes and emails up until Tuesday may 31, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. No phone calls will be accepted and only one response per angler, please. Please put "Police Lake Regulations" in the email subject line and feel free to indicate the reasons for your choice. Alberta Sutainable Resource Development, Fisheries Management Division, appreciates your feedback and will consider your input when making a final management decision.
  3. From me too!!........Hope you have a good un and many more.........
  4. But Black Label is still the best, right Jeff??........Merry Xmas if I don't talk/correspond before.........
  5. Yes, Leroy, happy birthday from me too........I have also enjoyed your video's and your no-nonsense and very effective way of tying...........By the way, our weather today looks very much like it does in the opening of your videos...........Yucko!!
  6. A buddy of mine has a board and has been making them for years and keeps me supplied........I use nothing else unless I'm fishing deep chronies.........He makes both mono and fluro for sink and float...........I use them on salt for bones as well..........Great leaders............If you'd like, p.m. me with your email address and I can put you in touch with him..........He's not on FFC......
  7. There will be dancing girls, free booze and/or drugs and everyone gets a free trip to Chile.........O.K.......So I'm stretching the truth a bit.............But it WILL be a good time and for a good cause...........Just another bump........
  8. Must be a slow day...........Original post was 2008.............
  9. Black, olive, white on full sink lines can be killer.........I make my eyes out of a piece of closed cell foam, like the sole of a thong (the kind you wear on your feet---not the other kind) and I just core out a cylinder with a cutting tube---I use an old steel golf shaft that I cut off.......(I would post a picture but------) They tie on easily, are super cheap, buoyant, and you can color them with a waterproof marker if necessary.......
  10. Just a note of thanks to all those who are supporting this auction by donating and buying.......Stream Watch thanks you for your support............We do seem to be losing some momentum and it would be a shame to see this auction end short of it's goal..........(Auction Master Rick wants to surpass the initial bar set by Toolman in 2008 of just under $10k)......To do that we need more donations and more bidders..........We seem to get support from the same folks year after year but we need some new blood to keep it going.......Sooooooooooo, if you fish the streams of southern or central Alberta or if you make a living from sport angling in Alberta, please help!!.........Our sport depends on you!!
  11. Dook, Dook, Dook!!.........Duke all the way this year-----again!!
  12. Thanks alot for taking it on Rick.......Looking forward to having a bit of fun and raising some serious coin........Have already had several donors step up with auction items......Any new items should be p.m.'d to rickr...............
  13. Hey Folks...... We're gearing up for the 2010 Stream Watch Auction and I'm looking for some help.......Greg has done this for two years past and is very busy, so while he's agreed to consult, we need someone else to manage the process.......I will do my best but I tend to be somewhat "Board Illiterate" so I may need some help or patience from time to time........ Anyway, within the next week or so I will post the details, rules, etc. of the auction and get it started.......In the meantime, I need your donations so we have something to auction!!.......Please p.m. me with any items and any thoughts you may have to make this one another success......Thanks..... Al....
  14. Great work Harry!!.............By the way, I left the stubs for the 2 books murray and i got at the show and a cheque for $100 with Dave at Fish Tales the other day............
  15. Look for the auction in mid to late February.....
  16. Plans are for three.........
  17. The new Alberta Stream Watch website is now up and running including the 2009 Annual Report, 2010 budget and information on programs and past highlights..........Included is a link to the Fly Fish Calgary website, something that is long overdure given the great support we've received on this Board, including the 2 very successful fundraising auctions..........Have a look......We're hoping for another successful year in 2010........ http://www.albertastreamwatch.com/index.html Al......
  18. That's NOT good for ticket sales, Smitty..........Not much point in anyone buying tickets now..... Congratulations on your winnings and good luck in the SW draw.........Better start thinking of a good WestJet destination you'd like to go to......
  19. Harry, good to see you in Calgary and thanks for taking on this big fundraising project...........Thanks to WestJet, Fish Tales and Amundsun as well, for their donations......We're working hard to try and raise enough money to run Stream Watch in 2010.........Watch for the auction sometime in February and the Stream Watch website is in it's final stages of updating so have a look at the 2009 annual report and 2010 budget in a few days...... http://www.albertastreamwatch.com/ Thanks to everyone who is supporting Stream Watch and don't forget, you can donate by calling Kimberly at TUC and telling her you want to support Stream Watch....... Cheers..... Al.....
  20. Switch to the Blackhawks........No ass to lick and ALOT better chance of having YOUR team in the playoffs........More Alberta boys on the Hawks than on the Flames anyway.........
  21. I simply couldn't say it better than this........ Jan 25 2010 4:33 "PETA is so spent. I am hugely into animal rights and I can't stand them, their dishonesty, their disrespect and arrogance. This woman from New York City publicly attacked a Canadian woman, in Canada, in order to try to change politics in Canada. She timed it to ganer media to send a message of intimidation and anger to Canadians. She crossed the border with the 'purpose of her visit' in reality being: assaulting a Canadian elected politician. All this adds very nasty elements to her crime of assault. Throw the book at her and try to tie PETA to it, and sue them as well. Enough is enough."
  22. O.K.......Your check is in the mail.........
  23. Anyone fished there in June??........About 40 miles out of YK and advertises fly fishing for big pike, lakers and grayling.........Just wondering if anyone has been there??
  24. Some great pics and some nice chunky bones.........I haven't been to Andros (yet) but have fished in Aabaco, Cuba and Belize......You just gotta love the strength to size ratio for those fish........I am always amazed, even by the smaller Belizean bones, by how fast and strong they are........Have the tarpon bug at moment so heading to Belize in a couple of months to sight fish for those.......Different fight but pound for pound nothing beats a bonefish in my opinion.......
