  1. However, I did pick up my new one online early against all procrastinating tendencies
  2. Looks like Sunday has a high of -2 and Monday is +2....if a guy were to head out Monday would there still be big ice chunks or slushies? or do you figure the river would be good to go for the nymph rig? Cheers, Bullfighter
  3. I fished opening day of city stretch this morning and was frustrated with the didymo. These are my observations from last year: Very little didymo right below Bearspaw dam. 14street bridge to Downtown Didymo picks up steam Zoo area didymo is crazy thick Downstream of Fish creek not very noticeable Is anyone else seeing same thing? If so wondering why...
  4. Just want to add that I will be leaving calgary at 6:30am....really appreciate any advice.
  5. Driving to Whitefish MT on Friday. Wondering if anyone has a strong preference on route. As far as I can see, there are 2 ways; 1) Roosville Crossing via Fernie (Crowsnest) 2) Carway Crossing via Fort MacLoed (Hwy 2) Goal is to get to Whitefish in least amount of time. Have done the Hwy to the Sun...amazing! But, time is not on my side for this trip. Appreciate any advice! Chris (Bullfighter)
  6. If those fish were from 1 or 2 days worth of "fishing", you'd think that they were doing some netting of some sort. Can't imagine that those people would be fine tuned fisherman. Then again, there are worms...
  7. Awesome fish! YEEHAAW. I caught his little brother last week. He had a cool jaw but no red belly like yours monger.
  8. Where is the Bill Dance Blooper video? Sweet pics. Very interested now to check that off the bucket list. How was the fight on the fly rod?
  9. I was out last weekend at Glenmore Trail. I also noticed a big stonefly hatch, with the stones coming out of water and scurrying to the bank...but no fish taking notice. Started at 4pm, finally caught my first fist with my head lamp on. River was dead until dark, then it came alive! Got a couple 16" browns on the biggest stimulator pattern I had.
  10. I typically fly fish from shore on the lower bow. Working the banks from a drift boat with a hopper i'm sure is the ideal position. However, if you are using a Hopper from shore, any tips or reccomendations out there? I would think you would still try to hit the banks casting upstream as well as letting the hopper swing towards shore at the end. Is the Hopper pattern still productive casting away from the banks in middle sections of the river?? Thanks and have a great August on the water!!
  11. For that big guy in the Livingstone, do you figure that bully is a resident or perhaps the beginning of spawning movements from Oldman Reservoir up the Oldman and into various tribs? I understand that the "Fall Spawn" for bulls will begin at its earliest in Mid-August.
