  1. A whole week? Man I got the shaft when I got my lower wisdom teeth out. Was back to work that very afternoon.
  2. buried a size 6 streamer in my forearm earlier this year and smacked one off my pinky the day before yesterday. The one off my pinky hurt worse. Seem to get myself a couple of times a year just when I'm thinking "Gee this sidewind may start to cause me trouble"... whack!! Owwyyyy.... mommyyy!!!!!
  3. It feels this long although I have never actually timed one. I defenetly make them work to stay out there and have never, and I do mean never, have injured or killed a fish on the Bow.
  4. What a terrible thing to have stolen . Very very sorry to hear it. Here's to hoping it makes a maraculous re-apperance!
  5. Scuba gear... now thats how to find the fish! Lol
  6. I think it depends on the fish and the situation. Strong currents like we have now add some time to the fight. Some fish also play out differently adding or reducing the time taken to land them. I have fought some that hardly run or jump but simply wont come withing 30 feet of shore for 15 minutes. Others go balistic for 2 or 3 minutes then come right in. I would say the average fish for me (16 -20 inch) with average flow rates (on the bow) takes me between 2 - 10 minutes depending on the run I get them in.
  7. Me and Toolman were fishing together below Calgary last summer when some ***hat motors up on our side of the bank and has the nerve to wave as the wake smacks into my midsection. He proceeded to fish by drifting from upstream of us down the other bank (and other side of a small island across from us) then as he gets to the bottom of the run he fires up his outboard again and motored back up our side of the bank again to do it again, and again. It's really hard to keep your composure when some one does something like this. Motors through our drifts so not to spook the bank he plans on fishing...
  8. I have no problem with river rescue boats at all. Now civilian jetboats and outboard motorboats on the bow are something different all together. I would like to see a no-motor law in place for the rest of us for all rivers and small fishing lakes.
  9. Hey guys. Tied up my first damselfly today using a variety of olive colored materials I have including: marabou duck quills duck quill fuzzy bottom feathers a plastic army mans leg I would love some opinions on how to make this fly better or what other fly is simply better. Cheers!
  10. Another sure way to repair rubber waders is to cut a piece of inner tube and user rubber cement to attach it over and/or under the tear. I did this once on an old pair and used them many more times with no issues. This works well on nylon waders as well.
  11. Thanks for the links and tips drbulltrout and pacreseltoro. I will pick up some epoxy and try a one with sparser hair. Thx again.
  12. I originally wanted to tie the clouser with a white thread since I don't like the idea of tying with mono. I never thought a darker color would look all that good until I saw the head you made above. My only concern there is contrast of the dark thread on the white bucktail behind the eyes. Maybe it wouldnt be that noticeable?? I'll give it a try. Oh, and SJW... I'm a long ways off before I can tie them like the one you tied above .
  13. Hey brotha's! Tied my first Clouser today and would love some input from you vets about making them better. The tutorial I had didn't mention the lengths of the different bucktails or crystal flash so any input there would be fantastic. Cheers!
  14. Red Floss Chironomid thread - black #8 body - red floss rib - medium gold thorax - peacock hurl gills - mallard flank fuzzy fibers
  15. Olive Biot Chironomid thread - olive #8 body - olive goose biot rib - medium gold thorax - peacock hurl gills - mallard flank fuzzy fibers
  16. Thought I would share a couple of chironomid starting with what I call the black blood chironomid. I put this together after seeing some kewl pictures of black bodied chironomids that had red between the body segments. I have had some luck with this one with the few times I have used it but wouldnt say It's been killer yet... I plan on tying more using smaller biots to get more segments. Black blood chironomid thread - black #8 underbody - red floss overbody - black goose biot rib - none thorax - peacock hurl gills - mallard flank fuzzy fibers
  17. Great post SJW! I had no Idea the big horn had that many trout per mile. As far as I knew the Bow had more. Simply amazing.
  18. Heres one you missed that they posted after Feb 25th, 2007. I had to laugh at the commentary as they discuss how they use barbless hooks. The one guy talks about how they use treble hooks since Alberta's laws hasn't outlawed them yet. I think these guys would use dynamite if Alberta didn't outlaw it . A real class act! Heres the video: Bow river rainbow feb 25 2007
  19. Booooooooooooooooo
  20. You can also easily see that they are using two 3 pronged hooks on that first video which is illegal. These videos are a poor representation of Calgary area fishing and fishermen. I would be surprised if the guy holding the camera was an Alberta resident.
  21. Magnificent imagery there! Thank you for posting these.
  22. Is this lake in Banff National Park? Did some googleing and saw a number of mud lakes in Alberta. Not surprised by the name .
  23. What a magnificent gift! Your wife must be a wonderful woman . The perfect wife would buy you a drift boat and row you and your fishing buddy around every weekend. LOL Kidding of course... no seriously.
  24. Great! Looks like an awesome magazine. Someone should tell the webmaster to play down the "Best viewed" and the "Update your browser" bit on the splash screen. They are goona have a high bounce rate on that splash page due to people thinking they have to update/change browser settings to view the site. A splash screen is counter productive to begin with and if you don't have text or a button saying "Click to enter" or something of that sort on it you start to lose visitors quickly. Having browser update info and screen resolution requirements makes them leave even faster. I have a decent background in internet marketing and believe me that this advice is something they should consider.
  25. Monsta cut! Well done.
