  1. You forgot to slap me with a white glove first....... And I accept! Loser buys the beer! And if he can't, then we buy it with whatever money was left in his wallet.....
  2. There is another couple of looney laws that dates back into the early settlement of this province and country. I'm not sure if this one is still a legitimate law, but you are supposed to receive a gun and a horse when you are released from Jail in Alberta. If this law is still active, it would only take one person to bring it back from the dead and have it omitted from our legal sysem..... Another one that pertains to fisherman with boats. As the captain of your ship/vessel you have the power to have an authority figure (ie. a F&W officer/ police officer) hand over their fireams before entering your vessel. Another archaic law that would probably get you in more than trouble than worth imagining. Gotta love the looney laws!
  3. Weedy1 if this only wasted 8 minutes you really need to pace yourself, there's a whole lot of down time to go until next season and not enough of these educational threads to last you through the year at this rate....
  4. The Mighty Duck movie really touched him as a young lass.......He's never really been quite right in the head since....
  5. Looks like we got side tracked a bit, so how about those lowly flames? They're not even getting points in the poll let alone the league......
  6. Hmmm switch computers and you switch users.......Guess I haven't logged on to this site with this comp since the new beginning when someone ran away with my crayons........ Apparently I am dragonfly too......woohoo Dave you can nuke that account if you want!
  7. We all know the leotards let you have exclusive access to the bully holes so no trying to change the subject.....
  8. And this was all done while wearing pink leotards.......
  9. We'll get the telemarketers right on that...... I'd be interested in joining up. There is certainly enough flyfishermen (and women) in these parts that it should be successful. There will probably have to be a small membership fee to pay for places to meet and the likes. I hear Clive's pension checks are rolling in so maybe we can hit 'em up for a few $$
  10. Dave you should add a wall of fame to your wall of shame....
  11. If you want to get it heated just ask Andy how his overcooked ducks held their composure against my 'Nucks tonight! lol no hard feelings DBT!
  12. The hides are in the salting process right now so they won't be by the TU meeting, but I will keep a generous chunk of hide and tail for you Harps.
  13. Alright I'll cut off some pieces for you guys. If you have any ideal parts of the hide let me know. Andy if you want the tails you can have them. I'll skin 'em off for ya. Already have a lifetime supply of bucktails..... I'll give you a shout the next time I'm heading into the bridge!
  14. Both were white-tailed deer, but one of the hides is quite dark, closely resembling the mule deer colours.
  15. If anyone wants some deer hair, I have two hides which I will gladly share. You'll have to let me know ASAP as I'm not letting the hide spoil, so whatever I don't use will be going to the Hutterites. I'm located in Shaughnessy 10 minutes north of Lethbridge.
  16. If it's not to late to join in the side bet, I'll join in for it. If there are any suggestions on what to tie I go with that, or I may reveal my secret stillwater pattern!
  17. Pretty neat stuff! There is definitely something intriguing about the feet....... especially when they reach the side of the screen!
  18. It's gonna be a muddy day at work tomorrow..........but great for hunting on Saturday. Bring on the SNOW!!!!!!!
  19. Thank god for the 4 frames per second otherwise a flying bird is out of the focal point in the blink of an eye. I'm looking forward to the day I'm "allowed" to upgrade my lenses to something that reponds faster for action shots. I still go through a lot of shots that don't make the final cut, but thats only to be expected. I'm also glad I can simply just delete what I don't want instead of going through the troubles of developing an entire roll of film just to find out my exposure was off by a miniscule fraction. I'm slowly getting used to all the functionality of the D200, but as any addiction, my eyes are always on the bigger prize, and the newer camera bodies are getting unreal in capabilities. I'll try to dig up anymore decent shots I can find when I can find the time. Gotta love being able to work and play at the same time.....
  20. Here are the most recent additions to my photo collection A juvenile Swainson's (Thanks Stephen ) And a Harlan's race red-tailed hawk
  21. Well thats a shame that somebody would waste an animal like that. If your going to shoot it at least make full use of it instead of turning it into a rotting lawn ornament. Could have been careless hunters that couldn't track an elephant through the mud or just ignorant pricks with as much brains as a peanut.
  22. If you look at the patterning of the wound in the hind quarters, it is very messy and stringy which pretty much rules out a knife. Unless someone just came from the salon and had there finger nails done, and scratched and clawed at the bears ass for a few hours I would have to say something has been feeding on it. The flattened grass does look strange, but if something were to have been feeding on the carcass, it would have also trampled the grass under foot (or talon if the case be). Personally I would say it wasn't a poaching incident, but without a full necropsy and crime scene investigation, I suppose poaching can't be ruled out. The bear probably either crawled to the area you found him, and wolves or coyotes playing tug of war probably dragged the carcass around, or quite possible another bear.
  23. Most likely it was a vehicle collision by the sounds of it. Most likely the hair is a result of someone moving the carcass out of the way for future traffic. The gall bladder isn't located near the rump, it's closer to the boiler room, so unless it was an enema gone bad...... If the rear end was ripped open, it may have been due to injury or scavengers. A person would be crazy to leave the evidence of of a poached bear in broad daylight, especially out in the open like that. Not only that, it's only 14$ for a black-bear tag so it really wouldn't be worth the hassle (unless you needed lots of gall bladders). There are other parts of the bear (like testicles if they are present and the paws, teeth, etc.) that are usually taken along with the gall bladder as they can fetch a fair price in the black market.
  24. Thanks Monger. I truly enjoy waterfowl in their breeding plumage during the spring (even more so then eating them in the fall). I unfortunately never really made it out much this year to see the ducks duel off or conduct their forced copulation rituals (which really aren't that fun for the faint of heart or the female ducks). The raptor migration is in full swing down around the Lethbridge area and I've managed to get a few good shots. Lots of different morphs and juveniles that are quite difficult to properly ID. When I get a chance I'll throw some up.
