  1. Looks like I only got that one nibble, but, as they say...the fly in the water catches all the fish...
  2. LOL...actually a triple...
  3. Very interesting....
  4. Well I hope to get a fishing date for Valentines....So... are you busy that day? I'll bring lots of tying materials for you too...nothing but the best!
  5. Loop warranty is handled through their Canadian distributors, Fly Angler Distributing Inc., in the Vancouver area. The 11' 3wt or 4wt. Loop OptiPeak, are incredible sticks capable of landing Salmon.
  6. That's an awesome offer James, many thanks. I'll get it posted. Greg EDIT: Can you take two fisherman?
  7. It sure would be nice if someone stepped up and offered a free float with their driftboat/Jet on the Bow, that we could auction off for the Oldman River StreamWatch fundraiser. Shore' would be nice....
  8. The fishies thank you Hydro... The first time that I fished the Bow, with Hydropsyche, he gave me a dozen of his flies to try.... So, I decided to fish only with the ones he gave me. That day, I caught trout on 10 different patterns out of the 12. I did not have time to fish the last two till a couple of days later, which also landed trout.
  9. Awww, c'mon Hydro...let me put you down for a dozen of those awesome fly's you tie, for our StreamWatch auction....grin. It would also be nice if that Jet boat guy would step up and offer a Pro-Guided half day Jet & Wade for our auction.
  10. The Jet boat threads getting old so maybe we should talk about something a little more positive. Bump...
  11. Well said Don, thanks for posting it.
  12. Hey Al, sorry for the delay and I will get an Auction thread started shortly....Let the bidding war begin!
  13. Great story Courtney, thanks for sharing.
  14. And now, if only more folks would step up and get involved...ehem...This project needs our support and we need more donations of items to help raise funds, so who's next to help the cause? ps. I'll bid $200 for the Trophy Pike Hunt with Dryfly and ADC....(What a bargain. Photo's pending.)
  15. We are looking for donated items that we can auction off, to help raise cash for the project. So if you can help by donating anything we can sell, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll start with the first item. I will offer a half day(4-5 hours), Guided walk and wade on the Bow river, with one or two anglers. I'll even bring Spey gear if that's what the buyer wants and either way, there will be lots of trout involved. Bidding starts at $200. Anyone want to go fishing with the Toolman, here's your chance. Big trout guaranteed...grin.
  16. I would suggest sticking with the 17/18th.
  17. Well first off, they are not technically called Spey rods, but actually two handed rods. The term Spey rod is used because these long two handed rods were first made popular on the River Spey in Scotland. Spey casting is the casting method that was developed to be able to cast these rods with little backcasting room. So, any rod can be spey cast, long or short, using one or two hands on the rod. A long single handed rod can be spey cast, but is not considered a spey rod.
  18. I think May 17/18th is fine, as these dates do not conflict with other fishing clinics we have planned for May (Bow River Nymphing Clinics etc), of which details will be announced in the coming weeks.
  19. Using a light two hander on small creeks, allows the angler to stay away from the edges of the shoreline and sneak a fly into a feeding lane without spooking the intended target. When I fished the Crowsnest, I was able to stay out of the water and hide in the tall grass, yet still fish in winds that were gusting at 60-70kmh.
  20. Welcome back...now lets see some of those fishies you've been catchin'.
  21. I like that...lol. Nice pic Neil and thanks for sharing. ps. Hey Tako, I think I remember you from FFA...let's see some of those Fish Pics of yours. What was your handle at FFA anyway?...hmmmm...let me think... maybe BCboy or somethin'.
  22. Both, May 17 and 18th, work for me, so the other guys can choose first, which day works best for them. Also wanted to mention that this Spey School is ideal for fisherman who are using two handed Switch rods as well as Spey rods. If you would like to give Spey casting a try and are interested in attending the school, but don't have a two handed rod yet, we can help you with that as well.
  23. I'm looking forward to fishing Stauffer and I've heard it is a great little creek. I love a good challenge.
  24. Were'nt you the one calling sheninigans last year Brent?
  25. Well Brent, the only point I am trying to make is that there are a lot of myths and assumptions made about Two Handed rods in the flyfishing game and I have encountered many that are false (most). As usual, most who are making the claims have no experience fishing two handers in these situations. I will fish Stauffer this year with my Spey rods....photo's pending. As for casting a #20 dry fly upstream, to a Brown in a foot of water, no problem, as it is as simple as adapting the line/leader and casting methods, to the conditions at hand.
