  1. And this one two my buddy caught right at the end of the day.
  2. Another epic day in Fernie fishing for Big Bull Trout. A long drive for a day of fishing but so worth it.
  3. Yeah, I ended up getting the Simms Riversheds as well at the start of the season and absolutley love them. Great and stable for hiking as well. I ended up putting a pack of the Hardbite Cleats on the bottom and they stick to anything. Worth every penny esspecially being on my feet all day fishing. Hope this helps out. Cheers.
  4. After a previous trip and a couple of 5wts breaking I'm glad I had a backup. Especially with a turn around period of about 7 weeks to get my rod there and back. And the last thing I also want is to be out for a day somewhere or a weekend trip and my only rod breaks and I'm done. Well, now I'm thinking of doing the same for my 9wt rod. I have a complete setup a 9' 4 piece TFO BVK with two reels. One with floating line and one with 24" sink tip. So I don't want to go with a different weight of rod for the back up. I'm thinking of almost a switch rod possibly but I don't want to spend a fortune on it. Some input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  5. I completely Agree WTF is with this rating system..... This is a joke right? Is this site a fly fishing forum where we can share information or just another facebook.... Too funny.
  6. Sweet I'll have to give that a go in a couple of weeks. And yes the rapala is great for spin fishing but I'm dying to catch them on the fly. cheers
  7. Hey SanJuanWorm. I'm heading out pike fishing this Monday but the following I'd like to get out to Crawling Valley on my Pontoon and try out some Walleye on the fly. I'm from southern Ontario and at my parents cottage I grew up fishing Walleye, Bass, and Pike. Do I need a sinking line to catch the walleye right now. I have a 5wt with a floating line and I have a spare spool with 15ft sink tip as well. I also have a 9wt with a floating line and also a 24ft sink tip. Any info would be greatly apprecated. Cheers.
  8. Wow is that ever disturbing. Couldn't even watch it all.
  9. I agree a little pricey but worth it and it keeps the number of fish up there. But I still agree it that it's pricey and you still have to drive all the way there and back and that's not cheap on gas at all. A couple of trips down there a summer is all I'll be doing. As for the rules changing below elko dam I don't think so cause I was down in the spring and fished below that section and still need to buy the classified daily licence. Cheers.
  10. Wen't down to Fernie about a week and a half ago and it was just outstanding. Couldn't believe how good the fishing was and can't wait to go back for more.
  11. Refeshed my screen and boom a whole new site layout. Kind of threw me off at first. However it looks like it may be more user friendly.
  12. Couldn't agree more with ya on that one. Bought pants at the start of the season and that's all I've used all summer.
  13. Right on and thanks for the positive feedback on the shuttle service. I will definitely give them a go. Beats using two vehicles and the whole logistics behind it. Cheers.
  14. Thinking of using Bow River Shuttles and was wondering if anyone else out there has used them. They seem pretty legit to me but I just wanted someones elses opinion on them. Cheers.
  15. Very exciting indeed and congrats. I know how it felt catching my first trout on the fly rod. AMAZING and now I'm hooked to.
  16. I have the Lamson Litespeed on my 9wt and the Lamson Konic on my 5wt and there both great reels. I've been fishing alot with the litespeed for pike and its been bomber with a great drag system. The Konic I haven't used as much yet but so far it's up there to. Nice and light as well and great value for what they cost compared to other reels plus there made in north america and not overseas. Hope this helps. Cheers.
  17. Yup I ended up getting my first one a couple of weeks back and I'll tell you there bizzare looking. The one I caught actually gave a pretty decent fight.
  18. My buddy and I pulled out 4 really nice rainbows about 19 to 20 inch onto of that one and a super big whitefish. The fish were breaking water all around us. I couldn't believe the activity on the water. An excellent night of fishing indeed.
  19. What a nice fish.
  20. Perfect because all I have is a floating line with 10ft of sink tip. So I should be able to nab some still with that setup. Thanks, for the update.
  21. Was thinking of heading out Pike fishing again this upcoming Monday and was wondering if anyone knew if the conditions were still good for pike in semi shallow water? Cheers.
  22. How did you mount the unit and the transponder to your toon????
  23. What I would like to know is the depth that fish are holding in lake. That way I know how far down to get at them instead of wasting my day trying to figure it out by trial and error. That will also dictate on what type of setup I'll decide to use. It'd also be nice to find out where the drop offs are in lake and that way you can anchor on them.
  24. I already have a marine battery and electric motor so I want something small and portable. I don't have alot of room left on my boat for extra batteries etc.
  25. I was going to possibly do some lake fishing this summer and into the fall and was pondering the thought of getting a portable fish finder for my Fish Cat 10-IR Standup. Does anyone have one on there pontoon boat and if so what's the best way to set it up and what's a decent portable fish finder that will get the job done and not break the bank? Cheers.
