  1. Was in the Bow River Intensive on the weekend and all I can say is that it was a fantastic class and I ended up learning so much. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about reading the bow that doesn't have the knowledge already. Thanks Jim for such a great course. Cheers.
  2. Right on and thanks for the positive feedback on the shuttle service. I will definitely give them a go. Beats using two vehicles and the whole logistics behind it. Cheers.
  3. Thinking of using Bow River Shuttles and was wondering if anyone else out there has used them. They seem pretty legit to me but I just wanted someones elses opinion on them. Cheers.
  4. Very exciting indeed and congrats. I know how it felt catching my first trout on the fly rod. AMAZING and now I'm hooked to.
  5. I have the Lamson Litespeed on my 9wt and the Lamson Konic on my 5wt and there both great reels. I've been fishing alot with the litespeed for pike and its been bomber with a great drag system. The Konic I haven't used as much yet but so far it's up there to. Nice and light as well and great value for what they cost compared to other reels plus there made in north america and not overseas. Hope this helps. Cheers.
  6. Yup I ended up getting my first one a couple of weeks back and I'll tell you there bizzare looking. The one I caught actually gave a pretty decent fight.
  7. My buddy and I pulled out 4 really nice rainbows about 19 to 20 inch onto of that one and a super big whitefish. The fish were breaking water all around us. I couldn't believe the activity on the water. An excellent night of fishing indeed.
  8. What a nice fish.
  9. Perfect because all I have is a floating line with 10ft of sink tip. So I should be able to nab some still with that setup. Thanks, for the update.
  10. Was thinking of heading out Pike fishing again this upcoming Monday and was wondering if anyone knew if the conditions were still good for pike in semi shallow water? Cheers.
  11. How did you mount the unit and the transponder to your toon????
  12. What I would like to know is the depth that fish are holding in lake. That way I know how far down to get at them instead of wasting my day trying to figure it out by trial and error. That will also dictate on what type of setup I'll decide to use. It'd also be nice to find out where the drop offs are in lake and that way you can anchor on them.
  13. I already have a marine battery and electric motor so I want something small and portable. I don't have alot of room left on my boat for extra batteries etc.
  14. I was going to possibly do some lake fishing this summer and into the fall and was pondering the thought of getting a portable fish finder for my Fish Cat 10-IR Standup. Does anyone have one on there pontoon boat and if so what's the best way to set it up and what's a decent portable fish finder that will get the job done and not break the bank? Cheers.
  15. Just bought a bunch of flies from Icky Flies and I must say I'm quite impressed. Ordered last Friday and got them in the mail yesterday. That's quick. As well they look like well tied flies and for the price you defenitley can't beat it. I went to Wholesale last week and picked up a couple at 1.99 a fly and they don't look as good as Icky's Flies for only a 1.00 a fly. Plus to top it off they through in 4 free flies and I ended up getting 10% off my purchase with free shipping. Will buy from them again forsure.
  16. I was going to try top water but never got around to it. Wish I would have. Next time I go out I'm going to do that forsure. And yeah all the fish were under the 30inch but man I have a 9 weight and they still made it work. Nice to know we have that close to us because it's a riot.
  17. Got out to clear lake yesterday and it was my first time fishing pike on a fly rod and it was absolutley incredible. Couldn't believe how much fun that was and can't wait to go again. It was nice to because I was the only one out there. No one around. A very cool experience indeed.
  18. I guess I have one more question being what is the max. and min. distance to cast when nymphing give or take.
  19. I ended up buying one when they HD model first came out and have used it for Skiing, DH Mountian Biking, Snorkleing in Hawaii and lately fishing. Really it's great little camera and you get alot of bang for your buck out of it. As suggested above definitely purchase a higher quality SD Card for it. It'll make the difference forsure and make sure it has alot of room on it. Also I found buying a couple of extra batteries came in handy as they will drain pretty quick and it's nice to have back ups on you. Cheers.
  20. Right on. That's what I'll do. When you put the 12"-16" of mono on for bullies what weight do you use for that?
  21. So what your saying if I was to use the albright knot then the thinner wire line would wrap around the thicker 30lb mono???????
  22. Yeah, a swivel sound so much easier. I was going to go 7' of 30lb Maxima to a small swivel then 2-3' of wire to the fly. Way easier...
  23. Thanks Colin, I acutually went out to a shop last night and tried a couple of different rods out and found that a medium-fast action rod felt better to load then my TFO BVK. Like I said in my original message that I should have tried different rods out before purchasing mine. So I ended up picking up the Sage Vantage last night and I'll use my BVK for nymphing. Cheers.
  24. Yeah, I ended up buying different size spools of Maxima mono. So I would just use 9ft of lets say 8lb to my first fly then 8"-12" of 6lb to my bottom fly with possibly weight inbetween both flies?
  25. I'm planning on going pike fishing this week and was wondering the knot used to attach the mono to the wire leader. I'm thinking it's a albright not but I'm not a 100% on that. If it is an albright knot does the mono get wrapped around the wire? Cheers.
