  1. I mentioned the hair post because there is a very effective caddis parachute pattern that incorporates the wing butts for the post.
  2. I think it would be better if the parachute was back farther. Have you ever tried making the parachute posts from the butts of a hair wing? Doing this helps make it less crowded in the front end; of course you'd need to thin the butts for a smaller dia. post.

Ever try the brown olive? Makes for some nice golden stones

Nice variant of a stimmie Brent
  5. A couple of years back at Country Pleasures I was introduced to a fellow that makes custom fly boxes and if memory serves me correctly he was located in NW Calgary. I was introduced to him by Monty from the Hook and Hackle club. If this person is reading this or you may know who this person is , please send me a PM with contact info. Thanks
  6. I'll start the next pattern Pattern #4 Hook: Partridge K3A # 16 I'll pass this on to AC Please note: this a completely different style of hook than probably most of you have ever tied on before so please look up the hook and put some careful thought into this one
  7. Try looking in the old archive of the original forum it's there somewhere
  8. Why limit yourself to just dries; you'll need nymphs too. Must have nymphs that are easy to tie: prince , hare's ear and pheasant tail
  9. My biggest concern would be warrenty coverage and where you have to go to get if needed.
  10. Most brands have the quality there but as far as glass goes get the best you can afford. The kit lenses are garbage. Just got my new Canon 1Ds MarkIII yesterday and like it so far from the test shots I've done with it.
  11. I would do the same or something similar but would add to that they would have to work at earning that priviledge back. It worked for us
  12. I made a couple of simple rules in the beginning and if this to go on they are to be followed. Lone Fisher you pick the next component please. NOTE: From here on out if the next person assigned the next component doesn't add it within the alloted time which is 12hrs., I'll designated who's next.
  13. I hoping to do something with this for the winter months starting the first of January but there wont be enough patterns by then at this rate...its been FOUR days since anything has been added.
  14. You can use all parts of a deer hide for tying. this link can show specifically which parts for what type of fly http://globalflyfisher.com/staff/helm/selecting/chart.html
  15. This will end tomorrow if participation doesn't pick up.
  16. It's so fake it should be reclassified as sick humour.
  17. I have to say this he was an inspiration to one of my favourite episodes of South Park......Cartman the hall monitor
  18. I have a feeling it's not but I think it may influence a colour scheme......just my guess nothing final
  19. The secret is out folks ; we now know who taught Max everything he knows: it's his little sister jk Good stuff Max
  20. Dryfly could you please add the next component?
  21. It's obvious not everyone is going to like whatever the final design happens to be....but think about it at least you have been asked for an opinion as far as ideas go. Several suggestions actually have used copyrighted materials in them which cannot be used, even the the idea can be a copyright infringement. You thoughts are appreciated non the less but please try to consider there are lots of issues to look into when designing and producing things.
  22. Pacres could you add the next component please?
  23. Trout lover please pick some else to select the next component. I have to say I've never heard of weighting a steelhead fly, usually your line choice it was gets it to its depth.
  24. I have never tried steaming so can't say it works well or not. I have done several searches on the subject and no instruction of any kind has come up for my searches
  25. Vernille is available here but it's still called chenille...I forget off hand if it's ultra chenille or micro that it falls under.
