Strike Indacator Colors
Mitchell0724 replied to plumeja's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Red is my favourite colour for indicators, I don't know why but I see darker colours better then lighter ones on the water. I bought a pack of multicoloured thingamabobbers last year and all I use is the red one because I see it so good. Pink is a close second but it's not as good as red. -
I just got back from the bow and I love the rod. It cast indicators like a dream even into the wind. The hook setting was good, it mends line really well. Its at least 50% better then the CPX in every category I really enjoyed fishing it. Worth the money!

I know this is a little old but I just got a 5wt 9'6" link to replace my CPX. The Link is not as fast but it seems to have more power, this is most likely because my line (SA mastery GPX 5wt) wasn't heavy enough to load the CPX. The distance is incredible, I measured my casts in a football feild and I was getting the line just over 100ft with a very slight wind at my back. I know it sounds impossible for a slower rod to cast further then a fast rod but I think what they did is put a soft tip on a fast rod. This way you don't loose the short range casts (The CPX won't load proper anywhere less than 25 ft). I think redington has definitely made a way better rod then there old CPX as far as preformance goes. The blue on the Link is a little cheesy for me. Ill give more info when I have a chance to get it out on the bow -Mitchell

That is a beautiful little boat. Very nice!

That's exactly what inspired me. He used 3mm nymph skin for the body and it look great as well but it's a lot more expensive. That was the winter 2008 magazine.

I found it at a dollar store in long strips a few years ago. It has been sitting at my desk ever since and now I have a good way to use it. The dollar store called it leather strips but its definitely synthetic.

That's interesting, I'll have to contact him. Thank you! My family and I would love to get as much information as possible

I'm going to get pics of every marking I can find, I'll post a few up in an hour or so. I guess it would be hard to identify them with no words haha

Okay I'll call it a wading staff, that looks pretty close. I guess a spike must have screwed into that grooved hole I was talking about

Best Reel In The $200-$300 Range
Mitchell0724 replied to Smitty's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
I know this was a long time ago but really? It's one of the best reels I have owned, the drag is imaging, it's light, and it looks pretty cool. The only problem I had is it used to very quietly click, which I like, and all of a sudden it's silent. The drag is still smooth though. -
I never thought of that, it could be but I wonder why there is a grooved hole at the end. It almost makes me think you could attach a gaff hook at the end. I'm sure catch and release was not used a lot back then haha

I just happened to remember about my great great grandpas fly fishing set ups I have. I thought you guys/girls might like to have a look. I have no idea of anything about it all. If anyone has any information on them to share I would be really happy. And what is that big thick peice of bamboo for? It has a hole in the end with grooves so something attaches to it

Thank you! The duns are an awesome fly but they are not quick to make, they are much more durable then a paradrake.

Thanks again everyone We found that spot by the blackstone. The fishing wasn't so hot but it was one of the nicest natural campsites I have used
-
Thanks, the toad was kinda funny. We found him on a hike exploring the trunk road and he only has three legs

I normally cheap out on waders but I have spent more money replacing cheap ones than I would have spent on one good pair. I am 6"2 and 160 lbs(skinny), What size should I get? I'm looking at the sims freestone waders are they a good choice? What are some other options for me to look at?

Quote: Is it fully collapsible? Because it will be needed to fit into a backpack for a over 10kms the fishcats are deadly some kid was crusing in super shallow with them and hammering the big bows with no wake at amber No, I'm saying that the one your looking at might be heavy because my fishcat pontoon boat is heavier than a lot of other brands of pontoon boats. It might just be that my steel frame is thicker or it might be the material I don't know. If its the material than there is probably a lighter brand out there for your hiking boat.
