  1. Here is a nice looking leech vid I found and the dubbing on it looks awesome. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F...h?v=gFkexMuA6F0 Does anyone know were I would find dubbing like this? I don't like to order online but will if I have too.
  2. Thank you I couldnt be more proud, I got a length of the second one and it was 23 inches, the first one for sure was a longer fish I figure 27-28 inches take or give but thats just guesing. Im heading out again tonight to see if I can get simular results.
  3. Thanks everyone. I got this guy last night aswell but my friend was to inpatient to get a decent pic of it. Lol I would have been too since I got them both in about five minutes of time using my new secret fly/flies I told him i would set up his rod after the release. Big mistake
  4. The day was slow but once the hatchs started in the afternoon things turned around. Look What I caught. I still cant beleive my eyes, my face hasnt changes since lol And heres some other pics from the wait
  5. If i had to pick six they would be... On a scale of one to five (five being the hardest) ill put the difficulty beside them in brackets 1. Hares ear nymph (2.5) -A nymph hook at sizes 14-10 -A hairs mask -Gold oval tinsel -Turkey or natural duck quil -Beads are optional 2. Pheasant tail nymph (2) -Same hooks as the hairs ear -A pheasant tail -Fine/small copper wire -A peacock tail feather (with the eye at the top) -Beads once again are optional 3. Parachute adams (1.5) -Dry fly hook in sizes 16-10 (Mustad 94840s or TMC 100s are great easy to find hooks) -A combination of grizzly and ginger/brown saddle or roster hackle will work -Grey antron dubbing -Calf tail or calf body(white) 4. Parachute light cahil (1.5) -Same hook as the Parachute adams -Calf tail or body (white) -White/cream antron dubbing -Cream/white roster or saddle hackle 5. Catatonic leeches (1) -Streamer hook in sizes 14-6 -Marabou in various coulors -Copper wire 6. Brassie (1) -Brassie sized wire in whatever colour (originaly copper wire or was it brass??????) -Any dubbing but a hares mask works good and that will save you from buying more dubbing -Any curved shank hook in sizes 18-12 Its hard to leave out the wooly bugger but I did.
  6. Thanks. Not much compares to seeing a pikes muscular back make a giant wake dart towards your fly from the shallows and then absolutly destroy your top water fly. If they want it they are on a mission to kill it. And then the fun begins they fight hard! Its not for those with a bad heart because your adrenaline will be going crazy. It makes my heart pound just thinking about it. Now I want to get some more pike.
  7. Lol I didn't want to freeze my hands in the water because it was right when the season opened, the water was cold! I guese I wasnt thinking that I was holding a cold wet slimy pike so it was pertty useless. I went home after the bigger one.
  8. Your good, lol SHHHHHHH!!!!! Just Kidding, some time I would like to bring a few people along.
  9. This is by far the best one I've used and I did debarb it before I used it. The body is a material I bought at the sportmensden in reddeer but its fairly easy to make your own(I'll post how if you want) The hook realy doesnt matter but a wide gap hooks up more fish I find. The post is whatever you want but I like black because you can see it better through the glare on the water. I use seals fur dubbing for the thorax becuse it kinda looks like legs in the water when you pull it out Grizzly hackle looks like fluttering wings on the water which is nice because tying on wings like two hackle tips makes the fly catch more wind making it harder to cast.
  10. Thank you Damsles are awesome some days! They just cant resist them if you get the timing right, earlyer in the year lots of damsles were tapping the water and big trout came flying out of the water for a them. I went home and tyed a couple up and they worked awesome. They started to slow down after a couple of weeks probly because the damsles quit laying eggs but you still can alway hook a few. The nicest thing about them is that stockers seem to ignore them so if you get one you know its probly a decent fish. I was getting most of my trout about a foot from shore or right beside lillys or downed trees.
  11. I just noticed every one of these fish were taken on top water with fly rods. The walleye wasnt but we have caught many at night on topwater aswell.
  12. This guy is kinda weird. Hooked through the lip but he was bleeding bad. He was released nicely and took off but I dont know if he made it or not.
  13. Heres how 2011 is treating me and some people I fish with. They are in no order I just put them all in the way they were set up on photobucket.
  14. I was at Upper Kananaskis last weekend and I put on royal coachman wet as a dropper and the cutthroats loved it! nice tie
  15. I dont think any of us fish for bwos... Are you catching them and using them for bait!!!
  16. Here is what I have been tying recently BWOs A new idea I found on the Fly Tying Forum that makes the head of the fly bounce of the bottom while the tail hangs up like a burrowing may Prince Nymph Variations that use Still Water Solutions Sparkle Blend Dubbing in dark red brown colour instead of peackock herl
  17. Tip# 18 Flys dont hunt the fish, the fish hunt the flys
  18. Ok weel... for lake white fish: -A bead Head royal coachmen soft hackle is awesome some days. -Also try a beadhead hares ear soft hackle. -Sometimes they will hit small streamers like small bead headed wooly buggers but they have to be realy agressive or in large groups(FIGHTING FOR FOOD). -A Prince Nymph is great sometimes -A great hook for lake white fish is a size 12-16 bead head chironomid but it should be a bright yellow with a gold bead. Sometimes an orange or copper wire rib helps. Put it about 1-2 ft off the bottom and just very very almost rediculusly slowly wiggle it in. Rocky mountain White fish: -They LOVE Scuds and sows but they have to be right down deep. - They also will hit Bead head Pheasant tails pretty good. If you use read thread and use it to make a throat they seem to work better. ALWAYS TRY TO ADD BEAD HEADS!!
  19. I just got a Redington CPX 9'6" 5wt fast action. It feels like a very nice rod but I have never tried it. Has any one tried one out that wants to tell me more about it?
